## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does the headphone jack provide mono to both R and L sides when using headphones?**
A: Yes the earphone jack on this radio provides mono audio to both right and left sides.

**Q: What's the difference between this radio and the P26?**
A: I have a P26 which has a measured current draw at low but useable volume of 5 milliamperes, which is somewhat incredible by most standards. The audio amp is a "class AB" push-pull type, which only draws current when needed on volume peaks, explaining why the batteries last so long. By comparison, I measured a DSP modern am-fm Phillips-designed pocket model. It works well but draws about 30 milliamperes at similar volume. Also, the internal computer sometimes struggles to accurately demodulate weak signals, which is not applicable to the analog Sony P-26 (or earlier versions). Many DSP's come with digital dials and some button functions but the extra features tend to be a nuisance, IMO- unless you really want them. Sony has dominated the consumer radio market for decades with their well-designed circuits. Issues such as scratchy volume controls are cleaned up with a little contact cleaner.

**Q: Does this new model p27 have analog tuning capacitor like the previous model p26? or, does the new p27 have dsp tuner? what are the other differences?**
A: It has a DSP tuner.

**Q: Does this radio have a cord to charge it  ?**
A: No, it has batteries. My radio stopped working after a few weeks. Terrible purchase.

The Sony ICF-P27 is a high-quality radio with nice design, case materials, and dials. It is surprisingly small and portable.The reception and sound quality are good, considering the size of the speaker and antennas. The claimed battery life is high but I haven't tested that.Sony's bigger radios like the ICF-506 would be better choices for desktop situations (plug into the mains, bigger antennas, bigger speaker, etc.).

Purchased for a friend who needed a reliable radio for AM and FM with long battery life. This one checks all the boxes. Picks up many stations loud and clear, locks into every radio station, no static. Good size easy to use, he takes it hiking and street walking. Very satisfied with his gift.

I've bought a lot of small pocket radios overthe past 45 years. I find this one to be theabsolute best. The fact that Sony is no longermaking this radio is terrible. I was able to buythis radio a few years ago for between 22 and 25dollars. Now it is going for a ridiculously high priceif anybody is even selling it. That is just not right.
