Review: This dogfood is great! - I have an English Mastiff (actually adopted as a six week old puppy from a shelter, long story with a happy ending!). I started her on Holistic Select's Large Breed Puppy food when I first got her, because a number of breeders recommended it. She is the healthiest dog you have ever met!! She is now two and a half years old and we have had no health issues at all. The other wonderful thing about her is, although mastiff's have a reputation for being couch potatoes, she is a running fool!! I believe the Holistic Select food got her off to a good start and has continued to provide her with the excellent nutrition she needs to keep that very big body moving. We do add a dollop of no fat plain yogurt to her food to help with gas (mastiffs tend to have problems with that!) Other than that, the only other thing she gets to eat are Milk Bones for treats to reward good behavior. I really do believe that, although the food is a bit expensive, it has saved us in veterinarian bills. Buying it on desertcart makes it a little less expensive and much more convenient since we live in a rural county. Review: Great food - My two dobies have been eating this food for about 8+ years. The dog in the front of the pic is 10 yrs old. The one behind her is 8 yrs old. They gobble it down and have never rejected this food. They each weigh between 65-70 lbs and eat about 3.5-4 cups a day depending on how much running they do. They have been doing very well on this food and look fantastic for their ages. I highly recommend it for Dobermans. ## Features - DIGESTIVE HEALTH: Optimal levels of protein plus prebiotics and probiotics, digestive enzymes, and dietary fiber in this dog food enhance digestion for your large breed dog - HEALTHY HIPS AND JOINTS: Calcium, phosphorus, glucosamine and chondroitin maintain bone strength and joint health - WHOLE BODY HEALTH: Supported by omega fatty acids, antioxidants, glucosamine, probiotics and taurine for a healthy heart - Made in the USA using only the finest globally sourced ingredients, we prepare each of our diets in our own state of the art facility; we craft delicious natural recipes with wholesome ingredients chosen for their nutritional benefits - QUALITY NUTRITION: We craft delicious natural recipes with wholesome ingredients that your pup will love, chosen for their nutritional benefits ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B003M61EEK | | Additional Features | Formulated for Large & Giant Breed Dogs, Unique Digestive Health Support | | Age Range (Description) | Adult | | Age Range Description | Adult | | Allergen Information | Soy Free, Wheat Free | | Animal Food Diet Type | Veterinary Diet | | Best Sellers Rank | #23,634 in Pet Supplies ( See Top 100 in Pet Supplies ) #845 in Dry Dog Food | | Brand | Holistic Select | | Brand Name | Holistic Select | | Breed Recommendation | Large Breeds | | Container Type | Bag | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 out of 5 stars 311 Reviews | | Dog Breed Size | Large | | Flavor | Large & Giant Breed Adult | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00041693249437 | | Item Form | Dry | | Item Type Name | Dry | | Item Weight | 30 pounds | | Manufacturer | Wellness Pet LLC | | Manufacturer Part Number | 24943 | | Model Number | 24943 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Occasion | Birthday | | Package Size Name | 30 Pound | | Pet Type | Dog | | Product Benefits | Supports digestive health and joint strength for large breeds | | Recommended Uses For Product | joint health support, digestive health, heart care | | Special Ingredients | holistic, organic | | Specific Uses For Product | Digestive Health, Skin and Coat Health | | Target Species | Dog | | UPC | 041693249437 | | Unit Count | 480 Ounce | | Warranty Description | The Wellness Guarantee: If for any reason you or your dog are not satisfied with this product, return it to Amazon for a refund. | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Holistic Select - **Flavor:** Large & Giant Breed Adult - **Age Range (Description):** Adult - **Item Form:** Dry - **Specific Uses For Product:** Digestive Health, Skin and Coat Health ## Images ![Natural Dry Dog Food, Large & Giant Breed Adult Recipe, 30-Pound Bag - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71uVkCssqrL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Size** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: Did the formula change at all along with the new look?** A: Has the seller answered you yet? My last order 2 months ago was the old look, today I got the new look and would like to make sure it's exactly the same as the local pet food store doesn't have this new package . **Q: Does the large and giant breed formula contain chondroitin and glucasomine?** A: It contains Glucosamine, but not chondrotin. The puppy formula contains neither of them. **Q: Is this food non-GMO and organic?** A: Hi, our Holistic Select products are a natural but not organic. We source our ingredients from GMO free suppliers but do not claim to be GMO free due to the possibility of cross contamination. If you have further questions, please reach out to our Consumer Affairs team. We’re available at 800-225-0904 M-F | 8-5 ET, or email info@wellnesspet.com. **Q: How much do i feed my 9 week old boxer/great dane?** A: I can't remember the calcium count but that's what you need to watch. While that is a large breed food and dog, I know a boxer/Dane and they will get big but too much calcium as young pup is the number 1 cause of hip dysplasia. Make sure it is under 1.5 calcium, preferable to have 1.2 or 1.3. I would go with a large breed puppy unless you can verify max calcium. Also look at wellness or wellness core for the same company, although I'm full supporter of grain free.all great food, but I prefer large breed puppy orijen which you don't want to buy on Amazon as they're not authorized, you can end up with someone's 3 year old food from their garage. Go to chewy.com for best price on that. My 10mth boxer/lab is on that. My 2 year old shepherd is large breed wellness core. I use the senior version of holistic select for 12 yr old minpin. And the cat is on core as well as they're more carnivorous than dogs. The last 3 I always order from Amazon our Amazon prime now, always the best price. If I have to go local they always match Amazon for me if I can't wait for shipping. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This dogfood is great! *by C***D on February 21, 2012* I have an English Mastiff (actually adopted as a six week old puppy from a shelter, long story with a happy ending!). Our vet prescribed him Hill's Prescription I/D and two occasions and it hardened his stools for about a week. After switching him back to Science Diet Large Breed Puppy food, his stools became soft and watery again. About a month ago, I came across great reviews about Holistic dog food and ordered it through Amazon. Within 3 days of mixing the Holistic food with the Science Diet Large Breed Puppy food, my male began to have good solid stools. This was 3 weeks ago and so far, so good. I know it's different for every dog, however I would encourage you to try Holistic dog food. UPDATE March 25, 2019 It's nearly 5 months since our Doberman was switched to Holistic. It's doing very well for his stools and his coat is great! This may not work for all dogs but this certainly works well for our Doberman. ## Frequently Bought Together - Holistic Select Natural Dry Dog Food, Large & Giant Breed Adult Recipe, 30-Pound Bag - Milk-Bone Original Dog Treats Biscuits for Large Dogs, 10 Pounds (Packaging May Vary) - PEDIGREE DENTASTIX Large Dog Dental Care Treats Original, Beef & Fresh Variety Pack, 2.73 lb.Pack (51 Treats) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.sn/products/4144457-natural-dry-dog-food-large-and-giant-breed-adult-recipe](https://www.desertcart.sn/products/4144457-natural-dry-dog-food-large-and-giant-breed-adult-recipe) --- *Product available on Desertcart Senegal* *Store origin: SN* *Last updated: 2026-10-05*
