I’ve tried numerous times and the potato typically gets stuck in the blade due to how dense it is. On the flip side, it is very easy cut a regular potato - in fact, the fries come out great! **Q: Is it all metal steel. Looks like the back is plastic?** A: The push plate has a plastic face... mine broke after 3 months... no word from the manufacturer **Q: Does it have a suction cup to hold it in place?** A: It does and works great for the first several times... then the suction cup loses it's grip. This makes it quite dangerous to use. **Q: Can it cube/dice potatoes?** A: I was thinking about this. There would be limitations. 1st I’d cut the potato’s length with a knife to match the width of inside of the slicer. Next I would put t in the slicer & cut the potato just short of all the way thru so that all of the pieces were still connected. Then I’d rotate the potato 90°so that the previous cuts were crosswise. Now, slice all the way thru and you should have 1/2” cubes. Get the smaller blade if you want 3/8” cubes a for hash.
