It's listed as being useful with a number of iPad and iPhone devices, along with the Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Samsung Galaxy S4 and more, but from personal experience it's also excellent for use on the new  Kindle Fire HDX 7"  and the  Kindle Fire HD 8.9"  tablets. Will admit to being occasionally "tablet-challenged" with photo edits that I do on these, but this is an excellent solution for that issue.Prior experience with the earlier dual-purpose  amPen New Hybrid 2-in-1 Stylus  is what brought me back to buy this updated version with its improved features. Slide the sleeve off and inside is the stylus/pen, one spare ink refill, and a simple instruction sheet.◆ In Use:As a stylus, this one is excellent. It offers smoother action than most rubber tipped stylus products as you access the screen on a tablet or smartphone, along with an increased level of sensitivity. The smoothness during actions like swiping the screen, clicking on apps and highlighting text shows up immediately, and using with the keyboard results in fewer errors. Personally found it to be excellent in use with photo editing apps on the Kindle Fire. But surprise here is that this new TechMatte stylus also takes the Pilot G2 gel ink refills:►  Pilot G2 Gel Ink Refill, 2-Pack This excellent and readily available refill is available in black, blue and other colors, and with tip widths ranging from bold (1.0mm) to ultra-fine (0.38mm), you can customize this stylus/pen to fit your own needs. You'll have a gel pen that writes beautifully, and as stated before and advised by many, a pen is only as good as its refill.◆ Summary:This new  amPen Hybrid 3-in-1 Stylus  in silver became my new favorite within minutes, and enough so that the day after receiving it, I bought the  amPen Hybrid 3-in-1 Stylus (Black)  as a backup to go in my briefcase. It's an example of product refinement at its best.JW ▪ 1/22/2014 ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tip fibers wear quickly, but still my favorite available stylus *by J***R on Reviewed in the United States on March 8, 2020* I am here purchasing a replacement for my last amPen Hybrid 3-in-1 stylus. The stylus includes an internal pen which accepts Pentel Pilot G2 refills, and I use various models of G2 pen regularly, so this is a great feature for me. Because it is also a pen, this stylus must have a cap for the pen. The mechanism which snaps the cap into place is a piece of plastic which is permanently lodged in the cap. On my last amPen, this plastic catch broke off, leaving the stylus virtually unusable since the pen became uncappable.It will be obvious to everyone that the amPen Hybrid 3-in-1 stylus has two stylus tips, a large one and a small one, This is an excellent feature, as I use both for various purposes. Another problem with the amPen is that there are replacements available for the large stylus point, but – to my knowledge – no replacement for the small point, (In fact, the small tip doesn’t even seem to be removable.)The stylus tips, sadly, wear out quite rapidly. The tips are covered with a fiber mesh; when these fibers wear through, the rubber underneath does not function as a capacitive pointer, so the stylus becomes useless. I wear out the two tips at about an even rate, and I don’t like the idea of replacing the large end and then having a crippled stylus with only one usable end, so I end up trashing the unit once the fibers have worn through rather than availing myself of replacement tips,The tips wear so fast that I have never had to replace the ink cartridge in one of these amPens.In spite of its drawbacks, the amPen Hybrid 3-in-1 remains my favorite available stylus.
