Beeswax Candle Wicks for Orthodox Vigil Oil Lamps, Floating Candles, Cork Floats, Home Altar

Beautiful clean-burning beeswax wicks with the delicate fragrance of natural spikenard, made for use with olive oil in a traditional Orthodox Christian vigil lamp. Far superior quality to anything made of petroleum. The fragrance is strong if you smell the bag of wicks, but when the lamp is lit is mild and dissipates after the first few lightings - my asthma is not triggered by it. When the flame is put out, the trace of smoke is less irritating than a regular paraffin wax candle. The cork float does not get saturated and sink or roll over. I light my lamp for prayer nightly, and kept it burning all night for Pascha this year. After several weeks of use now, and refilling the lamp with oil repeatedly, I am still on the first wick I took from the package, with the strong flame shown in my picture. I expect the bag of wicks I recieved to last me years. I had to make do with subpar petroleum wax wicks in junky floats for a while, and am so grateful to be able to order these excellent beeswax wicks that I feel like the negative reviews should be addressed. Maybe the reviewers having problems are unfamiliar with using a traditional Orthodox Christian prayer lamp wick or are just not using the wicks for their intended purpose. These aren't the same as using a decorative paraffin lamp from Homegoods or Target. Do not use a different lamp oil than olive oil. Leave enough of the wick sticking below the cork float to soak up oil, but not so little that the flame doesn't burn bright. If the wick is a little too thin for the hole in the float and wants to slide through, you can tilt it, drip a little beeswax from another candle to secure it, or otherwise apply a little bit of common sense to make your lamp burn brightly as people have done for centuries before mass-produced goods.

The floats are very nice, the wicks are good, but I find that I need to replace them about every three days or so, they will still light but they’ll be so short it’s hard, but theres so many I can’t see needing to buy again for a while.

These burn wonderfully! Flame is steady and even, reliable and consistent. Very economical considering I've been using the same wick for over a week while using for a couple hours daily. Very little carbon build up, and burns cleanly. Happy these are made from beeswax. Cork floats work excellently and I've had no issues with wicks falling through. Product sent quickly from vendor.

These wicks and Christian cork floats were perfect. The wicks exude the genuine aroma of beeswax. The central hole for the wicks on the cork floats is large enough to pass the wick through easily. Then, with two vertical metal rectangular pieces under the central hole, adjustments are made to hold, pinch, the wick in place, so that the wick doesn’t fall right through the hole into the oil vigil lamp. I purchased two initially, then, another two. These are not readily available where I live. However, we keep our vigil lamp lite 24 hours a day. It never goes out. The alternative, was to order from New York. Possibly, through our Church. Grateful for these, and, truly excellent vendor.

Aside from the hole for the wick being just a little too large, this product is excellent. The problem with the hole being too large is easily fixed by pinching the metal together underneath just a bit. It floats, and the wicks light. That's what I need it to do, and that's what it does. 5 stars. Great value for the money
