Yes, this is normal for powdered spices. We take the product photography when it comes right off the production line. During transportation, the powdered herbs and spices tend to get packed down - making it appear less full, while it's still the same amount of product noted on the package.

Will this onion powder come out of a salt shaker?

Hello Georgia SunYes you can use this from a shaker as the container has a shaker/spoon top.  Be aware this is a powder, and is not granulated so it will not pour like salt, but like baby powder.  If you place this in a shaker I recommend you use wax paper, or saran wrap to cover the opening.  The moisture in the air may make it clump.  I keep the protective lid intact and spoon it out. How much sugar is in this onion powder

The container doesn't state ingredients which would lead me to believe its pure onion. It is ever so slightly sweet but almost imperceptible under the onion taste. Just know, it is absoLUTEly powder, as in dust-like, so much so that when you use it, quite a bit becomes airborne. For that reason I wouldn't buy this again.
