This has some grit to it, probably because it helps the product grab on and stay put. I'm just assuming this. Just give it the proper drying time and sand off the excess. It sands flat and you honestly can't really see it, at least on my project. I primed and painted over the who thing and you simply can't see where I put this. I can't comment on the durability, but since I pained over it, I know I will have no issues whatsoever.
