ZIWI Peak Air-Dried Dog Food – Mackerel & Lamb - All Natural, High Protein, Grain Free, Limited Ingredient w/ Superfoods (88oz)

I wholeheartedly believe a raw diet is the best diet for dogs but found that it was very time consuming to prepare my dogs food myself and I constantly feared I was missing vital nutrients, vitamins or minerals. I purchased this food for convenience for the pet sitter when I went on vacation. My dogs loved it! I have now consistently been feeding it for several years now and my dogs are happy and at peak health. I find it best to figure out the calories your dog needs, they have an easy calculator, and weigh the food out rather than using a measuring cup. For my 70 pound, lazy dog, she gets 3.8 ounces of the chicken flavor in the morning and 4.2 ounces of the mackerel and lamb at night to meet her calorie needs. Weighing the food is best due to the way the food is made, you can have inconsistent sizes of food which will fill the cup differently. Some complain that this food is overpriced. Once you calculate your dog’s caloric needs, this food becomes more cost effective, especially compared to other high quality, pre-prepared, raw diet foods. It is also more convenient. Some complain that there are crumbles and powder in their bags. It is important to remember that this is an all natural food meaning there are no fillers such as starches. Starches are what make other foods firm and crunchy. So yes, you can expect some crumbles, sometimes more than others depending on the handling of the bags. However, the crumbles and powder are not wasted!! They are still high nutrient food. Don’t throw them away. My dogs happily licks them up from the bowl. This is another reason it’s best to weigh the food. My somewhat complaint. I’m not going to lie, the food kind of stinks, but it’s a raw diet so that is to be expected it’s just one of the downfalls. The chicken flavor isn’t bad, but the mackerel & lamb? Well, it’s fish and lamb so it shouldn’t be surprising. What is surprising, is that it doesn’t linger on my dogs breath. My complaint. They recently changed their packaging and I am not a fan. The bags used to have strong handles at the tops of the bags, they sealed back up easily and they had a perfect size scoop in them. Now there are no handles, no scoop, and sometimes I have to work the ziplock type seal. Hands down, will continue to feed and recommend this food!

This dog food is Absolutely amazing! My senior dog has been refusing all food. I cook her filet mignon, New York steaks, salmon, catfish cod and she thumbs her nose up at it plus, I don’t think she was getting complete meals with my homemade food and then I switched to Ziwi Peak and she’s made a complete turnaround. I’ve ordered two different recipes and she loves them both. I will never ever buy any other dog food. Thank you and boy Is this stuff healthy. Her poop is absolutely gorgeous.

My dog’s absolute favorite food! This is the only food my dog truly loves. It’s perfect for small breeds — my Pomeranian does great on it. High quality, smells fresh, and keeps him excited for every meal. Highly recommend!

I took one star off because we didn’t receive a scooper. We will see if my pup can tolerate this as her main diet. We had to stop giving kibble as she’s allergic to yeast products. Most kibble has yeast in it or ingredients that may increase yeast production in the body. I love this is such high % of protein. She has a lot of wounds healing and this will definitely help her. I’ve been making her homemade diet and that also is expensive. I like this is ready to use, and the taste and freshness seems to be A+. I bought this years ago for treats for her. I had stopped because I thought she was allergic. After receiving pathology and allergy testing results it seems she is severely allergic to yeast and fungi. Both that can be found in kibble, bigger bag you buy the more chance the food will spoil before your pup eats it. I did purchase 8.8 lbs as it is cheaper to invest in more at a time. Given she’s 66 lbs we will go through this fast… hopefully I can get this to stretch for at least 20-21 days at $199.99 a bag. Worth it for her getting healthy! I’ll post a later update for when she’s all healed and hopefully still on this food! Stay tune!

I have a rat terrier, he is 2 y.o., and he at times is very picky. My guy loves to eat, but there are times that he just would eat a couple of bites, then would not finish the rest. My guy has bad allergies. Before we started on ZIWI, his flatulence was awful! Silent, but deadly... but, introduce ZIWI, and now my guy dances when dinner is put together, he has eaten every dinner in full since we started on this new food 3 weeks ago.... and the FARTS, have ended! Plus, no gagging when picking up his messes outside! LOL! I highly recommend this brand, Toby loves it!

Best Mackerel and lamb dog food ever! It’s great for any size dog! My dog loved it! Very expensive since coming from New Zealand! Perfect size kibble for small dogs or a topper for large and small dogs. Need larger quantities for longer use! Unfortunate it is expensive!

I love this food for my dog. She’s very athletic and it really suits her well however it seems to have gotten more expensive and I just looked on chewy and they have free delivery with subscription for $123. Can you write that subscription price? I tried to look for a way to contact the seller and couldn’t find it. I would’ve preferred not to have written this in a review but to have discussed it directly with you.
