Typically, reports are ready approximately two weeks after the samples have been received at our laboratory. At times, there are some samples that require special handling and need additional time.

What if my pet's sample contains dirt, litter, or other contaminants?

It is okay if you are not able to collect a sample that is completely free of dirt, litter, or other contaminants, but cleaner samples can be processed more quickly.

Do I need to discontinue antibiotics before collecting a fecal sample for the Gut Microbiome Test?

Samples can be sent in while on antibiotics or other necessary medications. Please ensure to note this in the registration process.

Will my pet's sample be safe in the mail?

Yes, your sample is safe. The sample tubes contain a liquid that keeps the bacteria perfectly preserved for analysis, across a very wide range of temperatures. Once inside the tube, the sample is safe for several months.

Will this test tell me which foods my dog is allergic to or show me if my pet has a parasitic infection?

The Gut Health Test looks at the bacteria present in the microbiome, which will not provide information on food allergies or intolerances, and does not include parasites like Giardia, hookworms, or roundworms.
