Great Standards: Arr. Phillip Keveren the Phillip Keveren Series Piano Solo

I love all the piano arrangements by Phillip and his music selection of songs. I play at intermediate level, some piano pieces more challenging than others.

This guy never fails to please and this is one of his best. A couple of repeats from earlier volumes but who cares. "The nearness of You" and "Dear Heart" as well as Billy Joel's "Just the Way you are" are particular favourites. Buy it - it won't break the bank and it will for sure warm your heart and comfort your soul.

I have to respectfully disagree with previous review on some points. Yes, they ARE sappy love songs but that's basically what American STANDARDS are. I feel these arrangements are gorgeous and as an intermediate player I have to work at getting these beautiful solos down pat but it is worth every hour of practice and makes me a better musician. EVERY ONE of the 18 songs is a little jewel and my goal is to learn ALL of them. I do agree though on the "wing span"; I'm lucky enough to reach 9 and also agree that these pieces are not really for children's hands. My piano teacher was pleasantly surprised when I pulled out this songbook to play "Autumn in New York" and I agree with him that Keveren is an excellent arranger.

Phillip Keveren is a talented arranger. He didn't disappoint with this excellent collection.

It contains simple versions of favorites. I'm enjoying playing them.
