Made in the USA without preservatives or fillers, it allows pet parents to customize meals by adding their own protein, supporting adult and senior dogs of all breeds with clean, allergen-free nutrition. ## Description ABOUT PREFERENCE DEHYDRATED DOG FOOD: Preference base mix is an antioxidant-rich selection of fruits and veggies that takes away the prep work that comes with home cooking, and it’s a great choice for dealing with multiple meat sensitivities because you get to pick the perfect protein for your pup. The Honest Kitchen Preference dog food is a grain-free base mix where you choose your pup's favorite protein and simply add water. Since you select what meat is added, it's an excellent option for dogs that can't tolerate common protein sources or those who just like a little variety. Preference’s ingredients have also been verified as not containing GMOs by the Non GMO Project. As a grain-free dog food foundation diet, protein must be added with every feeding. It's perfect for raw dog food feeders or those making a homemade dog food that are looking for an easier way to serve their own meat while ensuring their dog is getting all of its essential nutrients. This dog food is 100% human-grade dog food (an important quality distinction!) and contains no red flag pet food ingredients like corn, soy, rice, beet pulp or wheat. Just add warm water & your dog’s favorite protein, wait 3 minutes and serve a delicious & healthy meal! ABOUT THE HONEST KITCHEN: The Honest Kitchen started in Lucy Postin’s kitchen in 2002 when she started making her dog’s meals from scratch to help combat his ear infections. The physical difference from his new diet was spectacular but her kitchen was a mess. Lucy then realized that dehydrating whole foods made mealtimes much simpler while maintaining the natural health benefits of the ingredients. From there, The Honest Kitchen was born - and her kitchen stayed much cleaner! Today, The Honest Kitchen is on a mission to revolutionize the pet food industry through their obsession with product integrity and commitment to help as many pets as possible get on the road to good health through natural, wholesome proper food. Ingredients All ingredients dehydrated: Sweet potatoes, peas, cabbage, organic coconut, apples, spinach, pumpkin, bananas, celery, organic kelp and organic honey, plus vitamin & mineral premix (premix includes tricalcium phosphate, choline chloride, zinc amino acid chelate, vitamin D3 supplement, vitamin E supplement, potassium iodide, potassium chloride, iron amino acid chelate, copper amino acid chelate, thiamine mononitrate) Directions This dehydrated dog food will expand after you add water to it so a 7 lb box equals 29 lbs of fresh food. To serve, simply add warm water & your dog’s favorite protein, wait 3 minutes, and serve for a fresh, wholesome and delicious meal! Review: Happy Golden Retriever! - My Golden Retriever just turned 8 years old. I've been feeding her HK Preference base mix and adding meat (80% meat/10% bone/10% offal mix) for over a year now. She gobbles it up. She doesn't suffer as many hot spots as before and she has lost about 18 lbs. Full and regular health check from vet ensures she is getting the right nutrients and all is as it should be for a dog of her age. proof is in her coat. While not always convenient (ESP when camping/boarding) I can always switch to the protien added version. Change up the proteins by adding fish, eggs... Turkey or lamb are favourites. Texture may be a big thing with your dog. So try different amounts of water to get a texture that works for you. Just remember to have lots of fresh water on hand! UPDATE September 1: While I still love this product, there is no longer a cost savings in purchasing it on desertcart. The price, up until recently, was $65.99 now it's $86.99. At par with my local pet shop. Buying at the pet shop also means a frequent buyers program which helps soften the blow. Online purchases do not qualify -- unless you are in the US and buy from HK themselves. desertcart - make it worth the online purchase and I'll be back. ## Features - GRAIN FREE BASE MIX: This fruit & veggie base mix recipe is made with dehydrated ingredients and allows for versatile, easy home cooking or raw feeding. - GREAT FOR RAW FEEDERS & HOME COOKERS: Tired of chopping up veggies? Mostly because I believe it’s better for them but also because I have 1 dog that is extremely picky. Been making all kinds of different things like pup loaf and it can be tricky too find in my small town all the ingredients a dog needs for a complete meal. It’s also been a lot of work and a big chore. I heard about this stuff and thought anything healthy my picky dog won’t eat but thought I’d give it a try, it’s been a week now and my picky dog has cleaned his dish every night! I think he thinks it’s just grass with his meat. Lol. Finally something I’m happy with and he is too! I couldn’t be happier. ## Frequently Bought Together - The Honest Kitchen Human Grade Dehydrated Grain Free Fruit & Veggie Base Mix Dog Food (Just Add Protein) - 7 Pound Box (Makes 12 Pounds) - The Honest Kitchen Human Grade Whole Grain, Veggie & Fruit Base Mix Dehydrated Dog Food (Just Add Protein) - 7 Pound Box (makes 12 Pounds) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.sn/products/409745139-the-honest-kitchen-human-grade-dehydrated-grain-free-fruit-veggie](https://www.desertcart.sn/products/409745139-the-honest-kitchen-human-grade-dehydrated-grain-free-fruit-veggie) --- *Product available on Desertcart Senegal* *Store origin: SN* *Last updated: 2026-10-15*
