3M™ Adhesion Promoter 111 is a fast-acting, isopropyl alcohol based solution designed to promote better and faster adhesion of 3M™ VHB™ Tapes. This product works particularly well for adhering 3M VHB Tapes to high surface energy substrates like galvanized steel, bare metals, and painted surfaces. Scientific Assistance: Even the best products can use a bit of assistance on occasion, and that's the idea behind our 3M Adhesion Promoter 111. It's designed to help our 3M VHB Tapes adhere to high energy substrates which are historically difficult to form an adhesive bond against. This includes surfaces such as galvanized steel, bare metals, and painted surfaces. The isopropyl alcohol based formula dries in one minute to maximize working time and eliminate downtime. Unlike many alcohol-based chemicals, it emits a non-offensive odor. Clean, Prime, and Adhere with Confidence. In addition to aiding in adhesion, our 3M Adhesive Primer 111 also works as a surface primer on some surfaces. It cleans and promotes adhesion in a single step, provided the surface is relatively clean and free of wax, grease, oil, and loose particles, saving you both time and effort. When tape is bonded in conjunction with our Adhesive Promoter, it increases the chemical and moisture resistance of the bond while adding additional sheer strength; this ensures the tape won't migrate or unexpectedly detach from the surface.

Not certain how it works, as it doesn't leave any kind of residue that you can see or feel, and just evaporates very quickly. I suspect it penetrates the material very slightly or perhaps just leaves a layer a few molecules thick.
Review: Makes neoprene gaskets around doors, trunks, frunks, hold stronger - I have a Tesla Y dual motor long distance. I have added all sorts of "enhancements" to offset the cheap design shortages - movable screen, splash guards, cockpit enhancements, top-of-steering stalk charger, rear LED lights for rear tow patch section and other rear lights (which has saved me from one rear-end collision due to bright attention-grabbing strobe effect I am sure - the guy behind me pulled into the left-turn lane beside me and we met eyes). I installed a set of the neoprene gaskets to reduce dirt penetration and noise but the attachment failed in many places. I ordered this product, and spent a lot of time using goof-off to remove every bit of old neoprene. I then used 99% ethyl alcohol to remove all residue of the goof-off.. I then liberally used this product to coat the metal of the Tesla where the new neoprene gaskets were to fit, and I went wider just in case. After several weeks I can confirm that the new neoprene is holding fast just as it should, thanks to this adherent. Many suppliers give little pledgets like alcohol swabs of this 3M solvent chemical - buying this is far better value if you are serious about making an install bulletproof. I recommend this product and would buy it again. Oh, and yes, the Tesla has been even more quiet as a result. Even if you don't have a T you would be good to use this to apply any neoprene gaskets in any vehicle, or doors of your house, or window gasketing of neoprene material.

A: It didn’t work well putting a vinyl decal on the side of my Rzr (ABS plastic). The little packets of 3M that are packaged with some decals work much better. The solution in the can is very watery.

A: I believe my husband used it as a base to waterproof a hole we had in our carport. I’m almost positive he used a silicone adhesive.

Adhesive promoter. What can I say? Definitely works. Use alcohol to clean your surface for prep. Then use a dab of this. Wait a minute or two then install. You wont be able to remove it after so be careful.
