We finally realized that properly crushed ice is crucial for cocktails. We first crushed ice inside plastic Ziplock bags. This approach demolishes the plastic bag (adds cost), produces wet ice (better but not the best), and possibly injects plastic residue into the crushed ice (add your own thoughts). We add 3-4 ladles( don't overfill) We now use the Lewis bag and wooden rolling pin and "STORE" the crushed ice in Ziplok bags. We crush 1-2 quarts daily. Love good ice.
