Alessi "Dear Charlie Banana Holder in Chrome-Plated Zamak, Silver

What more can I say? For years, I'd put my banana bunches in a big, ventilated bowl with lots of other fruits and avocados. Thing is, the bananas would tend to ripen up so fast they'd get bruised in that bowl. So I thought I'd give a proper banana tree a try? I looked at dozens of models here at Amazon, and figured, if I want a permanent solution to storing bananas, why not spend a bit more. I bought this very elegant, chrome Alessi Banana Holder and have been using it for several months now. It never looses its shine! I clean it with just purified water (from my water filter tank) and a microfiber towel. Voila! It's shining like brand new again. I hang my banana bunches on it and they never bruise. The air can circulate around the fruit better, too, so I think I get an extra day or two before the bananas get brown. Really pleased with this clever, sleek device.

I have always been a big fan of Italian design (grazie nonna) and particularly Alessi that now is completely part of the consumption society. I hesitated a long time before buying this holder because it is not really necessary to have a banana holder especially when you know that bananas are disappearing in certain part of the world due to the Panama disease caused by a mushroom (Fusarium oxysporum) which progression we do not know to stop. Yet, I decided it would be my only present for Xmas and I do not regret it. It is, as usual with Alessi, a beautiful object that contributes to make the world around you more pleasant. And there is nothing more important than having here and there a beautiful something to put your eyes on just to make you forget just for a few seconds the world necessary ugliness (ugliness is essential to appreciate beauty after all) :-) Alessi stainless steel is beautiful, but fragile so you need to really pay attention to the objects you have especially if you use them daily and you want to do so because design has to be functional and aesthetic.

Beautiful and sturdy. Holds large bunches of bananas. Looks good on the counter. I think it was a bit too expensive for a banana holder and it’s is not as eye catching as other Alessi items, but honestly it was the nicest holder I could find and I want the bananas to last longer in the house.

Well made and look great on my counter

This banana holder is expensive but I am SO glad that I made the splurge. It's well made and has no problem with 9 bananas loaded on it. It is the first banana holder I have ever bought and am amazed at how much longer they last. In addition to being functional, its beautiful. No regrets spending the money at all!

I have to say, I would never have imagined being EXCITED about something to hold bananas~~until TODAY!! Sincerely adds a little glam to the kitchen. PERFECT and worth the $$

This was a very good purchase !! Yes, the price is high but I'll never have to replace it and can enjoy using it because it looks beautiful on my counter. I also like the small footprint and it holds all sizes of bananas. Very stable bottom too!!

I bought this to match a fruit bowl and the two compliment each other perfectly. It is a very stylish but minimal fuss banana tree and yes you can't help just giving the base a little buff every now and then as it shines so brilliantly!
