A great ink in a beautiful color…
Pilot Iroshizuku inks never disappoint, and the Ama-Iro is no exception. This is a lovely and rich sky blue, not too far from the old Waterman South Seas Blue, but with no hint of turquoise. It performed very well in a Pilot Custom 74 with an extra fine nib (which gives about as thin a line as you can get), giving a smooth feel and good flow. It was nicely packaged and arrived quickly - can’t ask for anything more.

Love this ink
My favorite ink. This Iroshizuku ink is my favorite - it is not a blue-black. It is a light warm blue like the sky on a warm spring day. It is not a "serious" formal ink, but a more casual happy blue. Try it and you will always keep one or two pens inked up with this one!

Highest quality fountain pen ink
Pilot Iroshizuku Fountain Pen Ink is the best quality ink I have ever used (and I have been writing with a fountain pen for more than 50 years). I love the selection of colors, and the bottles are both beautiful and utilitarian with a center depression that enable you to get the last drop of ink. The ink is quick-drying, too.

Slightly Lighter Than Kon-peki
Ama-iro's color/hue is very close to the more well known Kon-peki. It's a little lighter, and a little brighter blue, leaning more towards the aqua or turquoise area of blue-green colors...barely. Because the ink is a little brighter than Kon-peki, you'll see shading better wherever lines cross, and ink tends to pool. Once the ink dries on the paper, you would have a difficult time deciding whether the text was written with Kon-peki or Ama-iro, unless you're looking at two text samples written with the two inks directly side by side. Given the variation of ink flow and line width between different pens, it would be easy to mis-identify the ink used if you didn't write the text yourself.Ink flow properties are in line with all Iroshizuku inks, and Ama-iro would be a safe ink to use in any brand of pen. There is no sheen, or shimmer, and the ink is not water resistant, but it is very easy to clean out of your pen.

Very similar to Kon Peki
When this swatches, it looks a lot like Kon Peki. Does not shade as well as kon peki. Color is a bit lighter.

Typically excellent Iroshizuku ink.
I use several of these Pilot inks. They are consistently first class and perform well in all of my pens.

Writes smooth and wet but dries fast enough for note taking
Ink flows very well, pen did not dry out after leaving uncapped for a few minutes. Ink dries within a few seconds. Using a fine or medium nib, I can flip the page within 5 or 6 seconds of writing and not worry about smudging

Beautiful!
This is my first bottle of Iroshizuku ink, and I love it! I will probably get Kon-Peki and others over time, but I couldn't say no to Ama-Iro for my first bottle. It truly is a sky blue, sort of a turquoise with more blue and hardly any or no green. I love blue inks, all shades. They're my favorite. I see Ama-Iro as a new permanent part of my collection. It's a great shade of blue for personal correspondence or for writing in a journal. Probably not so good for work-related writing. Even so, I really like this color. The color elevates my mood!
