The Ilex Wood Natural Deodorant Stick 70ml – Handmade in UK, Aluminium Salts Free, Plastic Free, Alcohol Free, Vegan, Eco Friendly Cardboard Tube – Ylang Ylang & Cedarwood (Sweet & Woody)

This is the second purchase of this deodorant stick for me. First one I bought was for my son who had experienced an underarm rash after using a spray deodorant. I loved the smell so much, I bought a second one for me. So far, I love the product: when you put it on, it takes a few seconds to dry or absorb but I've noticed it lasts all day and feels comfortable to wear. My son loved it too but, as some others have reported, found it to be insufficient for a prolonged work shift where he might sweat more due to activity. He found it does wear off after about 6 hours and he was unconfident to wear it for more active occasions. In summary, I suppose it depends on the person but if underarm sweating and odour is a problem for some this may not be sufficiently potent enough whereas for someone like me who isn't an excessive perspirer, I find it effective, gentle and smells wonderful.

Here is why I have rated this deodorant 5* SCENT - Cedarwood and Ylang-Ylang not too overpowering and is very pleasent. PRO's - No more scooping out a paste and getting it under the nails. No more strange looks in the gym changing room scooping paste out from a jar. The stick is easier to apply, less cumbersome and doesn't draw unwanted attention. I have used all natural deodorants for many years and most are scentless or the scent wears away quickly! This deodorant held up all day and beyond on a single application. USE - I followed the very thorough instructions provided. On first use, you must push up the stick, this took me a moment but with enough pressure I got it to the starting point...after this it has been very easy. I held the stick under the arm against the skin to warm it up to make application easier (as suggested). The natural oils do help to keep the skin nicely nourished and I had no drying out. If I found applying a little dry (my own impatience for not warming it up enough under the arm), then I would massage the residual in and this resolved the issue in seconds. I am human and I do not always apply the time needed when in a rush! I had never used a stick deodorant like this before and I spent the first few days working out on how best to apply. I now feel very confident in applying the product. (It really doesn't take long to sufficiently warm the stick up) DURABILITY- This is so important for any deodorant and I needed to put it through its paces to make sure it met the needs of what I was looking for. NON NATURAL DEODORANTS are full of ingredients that block pours to prevent odour. I cannot use these kinds of products that usually contain aluminium or alcohol as my glands become raised and painful. This is why I can only use products free of these ingredients. I applied the Ylang-Ylang and Cedarwood stick after a shower, went to the gym with a mix of cardio/weight training. It held up so well, I could not detect any odour and the scent was still holding out. I decided to test its durability further to see how long I could make it last before I could pick up any odour....yep! I am sorry if this sounds horrible but it is about value for money and the product being fit for purpose. I applied the deodorant in the morning after a shower, spent my day doing all the usual activities and had a training session that evening and went to bed. The next day I had an early morning cardio and gym session. The conclusion of my VALUE FOR MONEY/DURABILITY TEST, was it held up for 24 hours + and I still did not detect any odour. Now all our bodies are different but I have never used a natural product that has held up that well under the same conditions. I never usually leave many reviews for anything I buy. Yet I had made an effort to share my review as I do hope this will benefit anyone looking to purchase an all natural deodorant. Looking to understand the benefits of this product in particular. I hope even though for my own personal assessment for value and how well the product will work for me. I hope this review will help anyone who is looking to try this product, looking for a new deodorant or wanting to know more information from a customer. It is very well priced and extremely fantastic value and delivers on every level I needed it to.

Really effective and good quality. This works really well for me, obviously everyone is different. I have been using ‘natural’ , aluminium free deodorants for many years so I’m used to the concept ( and the extra cost ) but I haven’t tried a solid ‘stick’ deodorant of any kind for probably over 20 years. I have used this every day for about 8 weeks and it’s almost run out. It has been very hot during a lot of that time and I can confirm I have not smelt sweaty at all. It’s important to note that this is not an anti-perspirant, you will still sweat. For me it was very effective in stopping unpleasant smells. I am menopausal so sweat is a problem (especially at night) but I have found this to last the full 24 hours on me . I can’t however vouch for how effective this is if you were to do any extreme exercise or if you are a younger person. *Make sure to hold it under the armpit for a couple of seconds to soften it up* I personally like the smell of Ylang Ylang and Cedarwood but I know not everyone does. I didn’t find the smell strong or weak , it was just right. I see there are other scents I may try them too. The push up packaging is a little difficult , increasingly towards the end of the product. I feel I may have to waste a couple of days worth of the stick because I can’t reach into the tube enough to apply sufficient pressure. This is the nature of the cardboard design , I’m not sure anything can be done but it may deter some. I think I’ve probably had my moneys worth. I’m just about to order again , I see that I can buy a pack of two for slightly cheaper so that will help Oh and of course it didn’t irritate my skin, feel particularly greasy or stain my clothes ( I don’t wear tight or fancy things however!) I’m buying this again today

Third time I’ve bought this deodorant. Twice for my child so far and once as a gift for a friend who loves patchouli. I chose this deodorant as I didn’t want my 10 year old wearing anything with petro chemicals or aluminium in. Although they shower daily, without deodorant they still smell like a ferret after being active all day. This deodorant has sorted the whiff right out. It has a strong but very pleasant smell which lasts all day. I do think if an adult with potent pits/physical job/ physical hobby was wearing it, they would probably need to reapply after 10 hours and obviously shower daily. It lets your body do its thing which is good, so if the wearer was not bothering to wash regularly it’s not going to work miracles. I will continue to order this as it has not caused any skin irritation on my child. They feel grown up wearing it and like the fact that people have commented that they smell nice. It hasn’t marked any clothing. The quality seems high. It doesn’t feel greasy or sticky. One wipe downwards is all that is needed on a child, for an adult probably two wipes. It has lasted well - an adult would probably need to order once a month to every 6 weeks depending on how many times a day it’s used. It’s also good to be able to support a small British business.

Fantástico! Llevo un tiempo en perimenopausia y los desodorantes de siempre ya no duraban no medio día porque enseguida sentía que olía mal (quien este en mi situación lo entenderá). No tenía mucha confianza en este porque pensaba que algo natural no me quitaría el mal olor, pero qué equivocada estaba! Me encanta, es duradero, no mancha, no lleva productos tóxicos ni aluminio. No volveré a comprar los de antes. Muy satisfecha.

Best natural deodorant I’ve ever used.

Il prodotto viene spedito con imballo di plastica, contenente un biglietto, in inglese e tedesco che ne descrive le caratteristiche, e la storia dell' azienda. Data la particolarità del contenitore (cartoncino) penso che l' imballo in plastica serva a proteggerlo da pioggia e umidità, cosa che non farebbe un ulteriore imballo in carta o cartoncino. Come detto la confezione è in cartoncino, sembra abbastanza robusta per l' utilizzo che se ne deve fare, a condizione di tenerla lontano dall' umidità e dall' acqua. Il profumo: Ylang ylang e cedro è ottimo, subito molto intenso, ma piano piano si attenua fino ad armonizzarsi con il calore della pelle. Dura qualche ora e non tutto il giorno, anche se non perde la capacità di deodorare, in estate e con il caldo si arriva tranquillamente a sera. Ovviamente va applicato au pelle pulita, primo perché NON COPRE gli odori, secondo si rischiano spiacevoli reazioni, trattandosi di prodotto naturale. Ora che fa caldo, non dà problemi, non lascia residui e scorre bene. Vedremo in inverno come si comporta. La durata è limitata alla giornata, per quanto mi riguarda è ottima, anche in giornate particolarmente calde dove sudo molto, poi, ovviamente ciascuno ha le sue esigenze. Sconsiglio di usarlo subito dopo che ci si è depilate le ascelle (è scritto anche nel foglietto allegato alla confezione), essendo composto da olio essenziali, potrebbe creare irritazioni e fastidio sulla pelle.
