It is very easy to grow tomato as big as they were in soil. The Lawnful 2.6 gal/10L Hydroponic Buckets Kit is Deep-Water-Culture (DWC) hydroponic garden. In DWC, roots absorb sufficient oxygen while also able to take up the nutrients and water around it all days. This helps them to get a fast growth, and in many cases better than grown in the soil-counterparts. (Hydroponic tomatoes are most typically grown in 2~3.5 gallons buckets or reservoirs.)
DWC is a hydroponic growing method that sustains plants roots in a well-oxygenated solution full of nutrients and water. Do you need to use any special water or just out of the hose?

It’s best to use filtered water or get an in-line filter for your hose and that will remove about 97% of chlorine… at least the one I have it claims 97%…. And Athena nutrients work great in hydroponics… with the size buckets I would only grow auto flowers and I would only use three of them to actively grow in… And save one of the buckets for when you do your water swaps so you can lift the plan up and have some place to set it easier because they don’t quite fit onto a 5 gallon bucket when you’re doing your water swap

How Often to Change Your Hydroponic Water? The best indicator that it is time to do a full water change for your hydroponics is when you have topped it enough to fill the reservoir fully. A good rule of thumb is to fully change the water at least every two or three weeks. If you don’t notice much difference in the water level from day to day, plan on topping up the water every few days.
