Sargent Art 32-6048 Artist Quality 48ct Adult Professional Watercolor Set, Tin Case

I got these to see how good they are. I seen a review that said they was good but would not stay in the pans so I got them cause I want to see what the paint is like what the colors looks like and they have so many colors to choose from and so I made a investment to try them out. This is my honest review they are what seems to be good paint they have a great many colors to choose from they was easy to wet and pick up the color and apply the colors. I had to work each bracket in the metal pan to bend it forward so I could get the pans to pop in and stay they just fell out to easy but if bend the bracket that hold the pan forward it will hold the pans in tightly and they won't fall out. I love the color so many it is like candy store of color I like the fact each color has a number and that number is on each pan so if you need to find out what a color is you can go to the website and get the PDF of all the names I really don't want to write them out on swatches. It would be nice if they had the names printed on the pans but they are all numbered and you can keep them in number order and look up all the colors by number. I took some pictures to show how I bent the brackets and popped the pans in and I also got a sample of the colors on watercolor paper to see how they look on paper I compared them to the koi 48 set of Watercolors so the picture with copper gold silver and pearl and white is this set I try to keep the colors in the set order of colors on each of the four rows just like in they are in the metal pan

I purchased the Mungyo watercolors to see if they were as good as the Primas and because it's roughly a dollar per color I thought that was reasonable. I honestly believe these are exactly the same just branded differently. Twenty or thirty bucks for a set of 12 colors versus $50 for 48 colors makes this a good deal. I am not a professional artist and I only use these to add color to my stamped images for card making. The silver and copper don't cream very easily it takes a little effort to use those two colors but overall a nice set with a great mix of colors.

Wow. I'm very new to watercolor, and this is my first set worth more than $10. I am absolutely blown away by the vibrancy and opacity of these colors. I feel this set will last me forever! It's a great value for the amount of colors. I love it. The tray is so convenient, I just need a brush that will fit in it for traveling!

Where do I start? Well the first thing you do with this set is you have to wet the pans WELL to get them to stay in the pan. The pan colors are gritty and some are chalky to the feel. When I swatched the colors most are vibrant and beautiful. Some are opaque. But not very chalky at all. The metallics don't have a lot of sheen. The pearl white is fairly decent. For the price, this is a great set and you won't be disappointed. I'm happy with it.

These colours are vibrant and rest easily for use. There are so many beautiful colours, I was literally giddy when I was first making my swatches. I cannot attest to their colourfastness and no information regarding this is presented with the box. But this matters not to me as my work happily lives in my studio. With so many colours available, it means I can get to painting and not spend too much time getting to the right hue. While I have recently upgraded to a professional artist quality paint set, I still reach for these as it is so much easier to use.

Let me start off saying that these paints aren't bad, they are very similar in quality yo the Prima Marketing Watercolor Confections and Jane Davenport watercolors and if you have those watercolor already this set will likly just duplicate them. The tin is really nice and the paints are good but I think this palette should cost a bit less. I paid $50 which to be fair is much less than buying that many colors in the Prima line but still I was expecting more since there are so many good quality cheap watercolors coming out these days. The colors are rich and vibrant HOWEVER once you go and mix they are a bit opaque ad you can end up with muddy mixes if you are not careful. They are not great for glazing as they are kinda opaque and the under color will want to lift. I love that they give pigment info on these however some of the pigments are odd and not usually found in artist grade paint. These paints would be best for mixed media artists who plan to layer other mediums and just want bright rich color for minimal mixing. Really good quality paints.

I'm no professional, but they work pretty good compared to Walmart watercolor painting palette! But however, it wasn't until I had already gotten this when I found out that Hobby Lobby sells something almost identical to this in store for A LOT CHEAPER! The quality is good though.

I'm thrilled to have received my Mungyo, made in Korea aka Prima Marketing watercolour paints. The pans are individually wrapped in cellophane and paper with pigment and lightfast information on them. These paints are handmade like the way Sennelier still makes them. So, a big long roll, then cut up and put into the individual pans. That's why there's a bit of texture, cracking and they don't look completely uniform. Almost perfect though. None are under filled. My tin came a little bit dented with some paint coming off the inside edge. That annoyed me. I painted over the chipped parts with a paint marker, otherwise tins can rust. Watercolour palettes should be shipped in a box if it's being shipped internationally from the USA.

The delivery took 9 days which is quite fast for international one. But I found that three major scratches on the pan, which is quire disappointing. I am not sure if who is responsible for this, but I guess it scratches the product's value greatly.

Upon opening the packaging it was already flaking, as can be seen in the photos. I took it out of the set to take a closer look and there was a lot of powdery residue falling everywhere. I tried adding water to see if that could help, but it just puffed up and broke into chunks on the paper. The box itself was also damaged and dented/scratched.
