A 2-Year Love Affair with Triplot Reusable Nespresso Original Capsules
I've been a dedicated Nespresso machine and pods user for over 15 years. My last one is the Breville Pixie Espresso Machine. Let's talk about the real game-changer: Triplot reusable capsules. I've been using these for over two years now, and I'm here to tell you, I'll never go back! Two years ago, I made the switch to Triplot reusable capsules, and I haven't looked back. It's a game-changer! The machine still works flawlessly, I'm saving money, I'm doing something for the planet, and enjoying creamy, tasty Espressos everyday. What drove me to explore reusable capsules? Well, the ever-increasing cost of Nespresso pods and the growing desire for a more sustainable coffee habit. I initially purchased this 6-capsule kit to test the waters. While there was a bit of a learning curve to achieve the perfect espresso, I quickly discovered a simple method that works like a charm: NEWBIES! THE HOW-TO INSTRUCTIONS BELOW ARE FOR YOU!!!! 1. Measure and Fill: Use your measuring spoon to add 2-3.5 teaspoons of ground coffee to the aluminum capsule. 2. Tamp: Gently tamp the coffee grounds to ensure even distribution. 3. Clean: Wipe away any excess coffee grounds from the capsule rim. 4. Seal: Place the aluminum top seal onto the capsule. 5. Press: Press down on the foil of the top seal to secure it. 6. Finalize: Press with your finger around the entire capsule to ensure a tight seal. And voilà! Your reusable capsule is ready for brewing. Over time, I’ve repurchased additional capsules. Now, I prepare batches of 20-25 capsules at a time, usually once a week. The entire process takes only about 5 minutes! It’s so easy and satisfying. Pros: Cost-Effective: The initial investment pays off quickly, especially if you're a frequent coffee drinker. Eco-Friendly: Reduces waste from single-use capsules. Quality Espresso: With a bit of practice, you can achieve a rich, creamy espresso. Of course, the coffee blend you choose is also very important! Cons: Plastic Packaging: The seal lids come in a lot of plastic packaging, which seems counterintuitive to the eco-friendly goal. Triplot, please consider more sustainable packaging options! While the silicone seals may need occasional replacement, the overall savings and environmental benefits far outweigh this minor inconvenience. I wholeheartedly recommend giving Triplot reusable capsules a try. For those who are wondering, I use the Italian Illy Ground Expresso blend.

Consistently stellar espresso!
I rarely write reviews but I felt very inclined to do so for this product. I’ve now made ~10 shots over the course of 3 weeks of having these. I have a D’Longhi Mini Essenza Nespresso machine, and it fits these capsules like a glove, a very tight glove. That’s a good thing, because a loose fitting capsule will cause water leakage into your espresso cup and dilute your drink (and experience). I weigh 5 grams of finely ground dark roast (seriously, I just buy pre ground espresso that Trader Joe’s sells, rainforest packaging) in the capsule and use the included “tamper” to compress the grounds. It’s a little bit messy of a process but I’ll take cleaning up since the end result is phenomenal. I use filtered water ONLY in my Nespresso machine and overall, it works like a charm. Lovely aroma (better than store bought pods) and perfect amount of cream too. Resist the urge to fully fill and pack the capsule, as some space is needed for the water when the foil lid is penetrated. I’ve made these the night before and even after sitting sealed by the foil for 8 hours, they still taste fresh in the morning. Each shot is very consistent and up to the caliber and quality of Nespresso brand pods. I took a chance after reading some mixed reviews, but boy am I glad I got these. I am now so excited to experiment with pre-ground espresso from different roasters, since the standard Trader Joe’s brand espresso tastes so good. This saves so much money over buying one time use pods, and the taste is phenomenal! Fantastic value!!!

Reusable coffee capsules
These small capsules are strong, easy to fill and seal with the coffee you enjoy most. My concern is that the cup of coffee does not turn out strong enough. Would have to use more than one cspsule for stronger coffee.

So good I bought a 2nd!
I bought the Nespresso Lattissima on Black Friday and absolutely love it! The one time use pods get really expensive though so I bought these refillable pods and they are great! I make coffee for my husband as well and he has always said he preferred the taste using the reusable pods (granted I fill with Illy or Lavazza). I liked them so much I bought a 2nd set since we usually use 2 pods per drink…which is why it was getting expensive with the one time use pods since they average a dollar a pod! Pros – • Can use any coffee • Unlimited uses • Lungo, espresso, or the smaller size they all taste great • If you double brew the same pod it tastes about the same as using 2 pods (did that by mistake a few times!) • Way way cheaper than using the reusable pods • Cute holder for the pods Cons – • Holds slightly less coffee than the disposable pods, though I honestly haven’t noticed a taste difference • Needs one time use sticky ‘lids’, they are pretty cheap though • The rubber gasket will eventually need replacing, I have used mine A TON and only one of them is starting to show wear and tear • Would have been nice if the holder had a lid Needless to say, I recommend, or else I wouldn’t have bought a 2nd set.

Well made and works well, but can’t make strong enough coffee yet..
I love the idea of these. It’s a good set and the spoon handle makes it much easier to scoop the coffee - not all brands included this. I also love the tray. You can make 6 pods at a time and store them near the machine for quick access in the morning. Can only give in 3 stars because I can’t seem to pack enough fine ground coffee into the capsule to replicate the rich taste I get from using store bought espresso pods. Otherwise it works perfectly in my coffee machine. I’m not giving up on the set and will keep trying as I like the idea of using my own coffee and it feels less wasteful.

Does not work with ninja espresso coffee barista machine
My husband and I just bought a new ninja espresso and coffee barista machine, super fancy and totally trying to reign in on our coffee game and save some money so we stop going to Starbucks religiously. So we bought these fillable pods to try and use our own grinder and espresso roast and we tried it out the first day. We went through 4 different pods that we filled, followed the instructions and we kept getting an error on our machine saying “ready to brew, add water”. We checked the tank, it was full. We tried to adjust the pods and rebrew. Tried to use different pods. Every single time we had this error and couldn’t figure out why. After a few hours and many Google attempts, we get our last delivery of original nespresso shaped pods from a different company already filled (the throw away ones) and we get the prefect brew of espresso instantly. To debunk this again, we used one more refillable pot and got the error again. The foils are too thick and won’t pierce correctly. My guess is just don’t fill the pods per the instructions and do less but who wants less espresso? lol so I just returned them and am going to just buy the tossable pods. Maybe I’ll revisit them down the road when I’m more inclined - maybe it’s totally user error idk but I don’t have the patience I just want my coffee lol

Game-Changer! Better coffee, lower cost.
When the price of our favorite locally sourced coffee became prohibitive (we understand, but $20/bag was too much!!!), we started using the Nespresso machine temporarily. But even the Ristretto pods from Trader Joe's aren't cheap. In addition, they are not (yet) recyclable, nor are they organic or free trade. A deep dive into Amazon yielded this little set, and that has made all the difference! Now we can buy Free Trade espresso (yes, from TJ's), and load the pods ourselves. It takes a few tries to get the onboarding just right, but after that, it's a cinch. And the flavor of the coffee is sooooo much better than purchased pods, of ANY brand! Here are a few things I've learned so far: 1. Buy extra lids. You'll waste a few in the learning process. 😉 2. If you make more than one or two pods a day (we're a 4-pod household), you might want two sets (12 total), just so you can maximize pre-filling sessions. 3. Pack coffee in firmly, but don't try to make a brickin there. The coffee needs a little space for the water to pass through to get a nice, rich cup with full foam. 4. Leave a bit of space between the grounds and the lid. Not a huge gap, but this space also helps in creating better coffee and foam. 5. Make sure the lids are sealed around the full rim of the pod. (It's really easy to do.) 6. You will need to de-stickify the rims from time to time, as the adhesive sometimes leaves residue. GooGone (or an orange peel) works great. 7. If you rinse the used lids and wad them up, they're recyclable. The used coffee is great for plants or the compost, if either is an option. 8. Enjoy! You're gonna be amazed out what a great cup of deliciousness your little machine can make with these pods. Hope this helps!
