It works great! I love how simple it is to use it and how you can adjust the flow. I also like the different kinds of components you can attach! Very friendly for small and big aquariums!

This product was well designed (except for one thing!) and worked very well indeed. Internally there is a small grate that keeps gravel from being sucked all the way up into the top end, and it can be made very long indeed. My tank is about 26' deep and I use just the one clear section, but there are two in the kit! My one gripe is that the hose is angled downward, which does not make much sense when you have this in the tank and need to go up to go over the side. This causes kinks to occur if you are not careful, and this is not something that you would be concentrating on while draining into a bucket on the floor. Still, very sturdy construction and overall a vast improvement over what I have been using in the past. So 5 stars in spite of the angle of the hose exit from the vacuum!

I got the hygger 256GPH manual gravel vacuum to help with water changes and cleaning my 55 gallon aquarium. The long tubes and different attachments are solid. Things like the duckbill nozzle and gravel washer make it easy to reach the bottom and switch between tasks. The squeeze ball gets the siphon going fast, and the flow valve lets you control suction pretty well. It handled light cleaning and fine debris no problem. But when I went after some thicker algae buildup and bigger chunks of waste, it jammed hard in the valve. I tried poking it clear and pushed too much. Ended up snapping part of it. That was honestly my fault for forcing it, but it does show the plastic parts aren’t super sturdy. I’m landing on 3 stars since it works fine for basic maintenance and the price is fair. If your tank gets really gunky or you just want to save time, though, go for one with an electric pump instead. Those power through heavy stuff without the clog headaches. This one’s okay for lighter jobs.

Works great. 6/9/2026 Amended I’m using it for the second time in the seals on the seam at the ball top where you squeeze is leaking and of course I’m past my Window for return or exchange. So sad because it did work good but it should’ve lasted more than one use.

really like the idea and loved it first few uses, then dead. does not after very light use. tried 3 of these thinking I got a dud. Nope, worked great till the 4th time then the bulb is bad and wont prime to suck up water. love the design and idea but very unhappy with quality. The bulb is more plastic like not really rubbery. seems to me it must get a hairline crack in it as it won't start sucking water no matter how many times I pump the bulb and no matter what hand position pumping the bulb after it stopped working and tried again. this a not a fake review. been keeping fish for over a decade and usually use the long or short simple vacuums dip in water lift and put back in water. stilll using those for over a decade and those still work. need a nano tank like vacuum for my (3) 6 gallon tall round tanks. Thy Hygger is a perfect idea but no good if it stops working after minimal use along with rinsing it after each use. the last one bought a few months ago broke too.

This vacuum worked well in my 9 gallon Fluval Nano tank. It was the right length, without the extension tube to reach the bottom of the tank. The suction power provided by the bulb was adequate to siphon the sediment from the gravel.

I so wish it came with a removable netting to prevent sucking up sand and small gravel. I add my own and THEN it works great! A catch bag at the other end would also be beneficial so the tank water could be recycled back into the tank once unwanted debris is removed. This would allow for more frequent cleaning without changing the water chemistry. The ball suction works great with the water flow starting immediately. The ability to pinch the tubing for a slower flow is great. Now I don't need to use bread ties to regulate the flow! HOWEVER, once pinched, the thick tubing needs to be manually squeezed open again. Including an additional thinner tubing would be nice so you're not forced to purchase a second vacuum for use with smaller tanks or targeting cleanings. Overall, I would repurchase this item, as it is one of the better manual cleaners out there.

Easy to put together and use. Easy to take apart and flush afterwards (watch the little white washers inside some of the pieces though). So far it has been excellent to clean with. For a small tank the suction is alright. The tubing is nice and long so reaches drainage basin or sink. The gravel only gets sucked up so far and a couple of movements it falls back down. It is quite durable.

Compre esta aspiradora para supuestamente hacer la succión del agua mas facil pero era muy complicado aplicar presion a la bomba y que el agua no avanzara por la manguera. Despues de 2 dias de uso, la bomba dejo de jalar agua, me imagino se escapo el aire por algun lado de la bomba. Mejor hubiese comprado un siphon regular. No lo recomiendo para nada.

Had to add an extension for my deep tank but after adding the extension it works perfectly. I originally purchased the larger one but the suction bulb was so stiff I had trouble squeezing it and trouble getting it flowing so bought this one and it's perfect with the extension. Would highly recommend .... one of my essentials for fish keeping!!!
