A Fine Book Tape
This heavy duty book tape is a pleasure to use. It is effective and looks good. As others have noted, it sticks very effectively to books and paper, but not to itself. This should not be a problem as long as you plan accordingly.

Excellent Binder Tape
Unlike most people I would expect would use this for actual repair for a book, I needed it for a project I was working on (non-book). It has the feel of fine cloth tape like you would get for a first-aid kit. The 2-inch width is excellent and the sticky-ness of the tape is perfect. Almost too sticky as once it is put down it can be a bit difficult to pull it off (I found this true with certain cardboard stock so be aware that it might not be reversable even if you didn't press it down yet). Bubbles come out very quickly with a bone smoothing tool). I highly recommend. You won't go wrong with this product. It came well packaged (shrink-wrapped) and then the Amazon box of course. The tape is thin enough that it does not add much weight to your project.

Very durable.
This is bookbinding tape. It is fantastic tape. It adheres well to smooth or mostly smooth surfaces, stays stuck, doesn't fade, doesn't fray, is UV and weather resistant. This appears to be just a low-tech cotton tape, but it has outlasted and out performed duct tape and other heavy duty tapes that I've used before in similar exposed applications. I have used it for 2 years now in an outdoor, sun and rain exposed environment, and it continues to perform and look like new. This is now the go to choice for me.

Works well
This tape works well, and can be repositioned on books. I like the white tape, as it matches many other colors. I gave it four stars because there is not a lot of tape on the roll, so it is not cheap.

Sturdy, easy to use, subtle appearance
I used this tape to repair the heirloom stamp albums my husband inherited from his father. They were in poor condition, falling apart. This tape is not only acid free but easy to work with, sticks firmly, and has a finish that is classic and matte. Nice quality and a fair price. Highly recommend.

Poor quality
The tape came off after a few months. Not worth the $$

works better on paper or untreated cardboard but not on older books that are worn.
This is an OK tape but not as strong as you need to repair a book spine. Some commenters have mentioned how well it adheres to paper and that's true but to repair a broken book spine you're not taping to paper, you're taping to old worn cloth covered cardboard (hardcover). This approach is temporary at best but temporary is sometimes good enough. I'm hoping to do some follow-up with a number of these tapes for their longevity using accelerated aging tests which are easily done in my state of Florida. The sun here ages everything!
