Power and Features Meet The Perfect Price-point
After looking at nearly every single receiver on Amazon, I finally met the perfect combination of function, sound, and price. Worried about power? DON'T. with the right soeakers, this thing will blow you out of the house, and wake the neighbors. My setup? JBL 12" subwoofer, black magic 6x9's in a sealed speaker box (hidden behind my TV), and home made foam speakers using Dayton Audio actuators. Don't laugh.... if you've never heard a pair of these home made speakers, you're missing out..... a LOT. Look it up on YouTube. Search for "Tech Ingredients Best Speakers In The World". Build them. You will be mind blown. Back to the Denon..... It's an amazing piece of equipment. It's definitely Beauty and the Beast. Pretty on the outside, but a beast when it comes to power output. I have had mine for 9 months now, and have never had one single issue with it. I love this little beast. You will too!

A damned good inexpensive receiver!
If you want a GOOD, inexpensive (relatively) 5.1 receiver, this is your huckleberry. It’s easy to set up as far as receivers go - plug everything in, turn it on, and follow the instructions. Do the woop-woop test with the included microphone when it’s quiet in the house. It’s a standard Denon, so if you’re already familiar with the brand then this is more of the same - good on-screen display, excellent sound quality, everything that you need with nothing you don’t. Tip: Download the Denon app to your phone once the receiver is set up and connected to your network, and use it to set your preferences - hdmi input names, movie/music profiles, etc. You can set these with the remote and through the menus, but the app makes it a ton easier. Compatible with the Logitech Harmony remotes (may they Rest In Peace). I’ve seen other reviews saying “it’s too hard!” - uh, no? Maybe if it’s your first receiver I guess? But I wouldn’t think so… especially if you’re technically inclined at all. I’ve been using stereo receivers for home theater systems for 30 years, and this one’s a breeze. If you’re not technically inclined, you’re probably better off with a sound bar anyways than a 5.1 setup.

Good value
Sounds really nice. Replaced a 10 yr old receiver that was part of a theater in a box combo. The old speakers connected to this easily using some banana plugs and I had to get a new sub since my old one was not self powered but otherwise very easy. This one sounds better than my old system. Noticeable improved surround on this one with the same space and speaker layout. Nice to have everything video go through this receiver so I can just turn on the tv and everything turns on at once. Don’t have to use two remotes anymore. Also I can select Spotify on my phone and airplay directly to the sound receiver. The box turns on automatically and sound is nice and full. Also lots of different sound profiles to switch between for your preference and do it right on the remote so it’s easy. Box does get hot but not terrible like some ppl said. This is normal for a receiver. Lots of vents on the top of the chassis.

Excellent sound.
I bought a Denon surround sound system 15 years ago. The original receiver lasted 10 years. A replacement Yamaha receiver lasted only 5. I decided to return to Denon and bought this one. I am very pleased. The receiver comes with a mic that allows you to run a setup that tunes the sound to your room. The initial setup is very user friendly. Directions are displayed on the screen. The system sounds as good or better than the more pricey Yamaha receiver that it replaced. The only negative is that, once setup, it is not as user friendly as the Yamaha was, from a standpoint of selecting the proper component and type of sound (surround, stereo etc). However, I think I can fix this by programming some of the quick select choices and plan to do that. Overall, the receiver sounds great. There is no hiss and music and movies are great. The sound in my house is better than most movie theaters. The bottom line is that this receiver is relatively inexpensive, but the quality of the sound is exceptional.

Didn't work for me
Spent a lot of time looking for a replacement of my Onkyo theater reciever and this checked the boxes. However after 2 days I decided to return it. All the correct cabling, all the correct hookups, all the correct TV settings..........couldn't get the 5 surround speakers to work properly (I have a subwoofer as well but not hooked up during this setup). Still not sure but thinking the problem was that I have a roku streaming sound bar for my streaming input. This "seemed" to confuse the receiver for which speakers were the "surround" speakers as the sound bar has a left and right speaker embeded in it. The receiver speaker identification setup sequencing correctly buzzed each of the 5 surround speakers but would not relay audio thru them. As a last resort I removed the roku streaming sound bar and reinstalled the old roku streaming module (no sound bar). This magically allowed audio to pass thru to the 5 speakers.........but, the leveling for each speaker thru the remote took several selections thru a nested layering. My old Onkyo was super easy thru the remote. Add to that I couldn't get the leveling to be anywhere close to ok from speaking levels transitioning to action. That's when I gave up and packaged the unit for return. Could be I messed up somewhere but I don't think so and I couldn't find any guidance to give me hope. If anyone has info regarding streaming sound bar compatibility with theater receivers , please advise...Thanks

This was a good deal being an older model
This is a slightly outdated model but a good deal. Everything works well with my old, but good Bose speakers, phono and an ancient CD player. Someday it might get hooked to a real AV system, but for now it works well for my stereo and has added the ability to stream audio from the internet. My only problem is that I could not get it to connect through the HEOS app/software to my samba based network attached storage (NAS). It seems it would work if I made the music available through streaming software (MythTV or Kodi?) on my NAS server, but I have not tried setting that up.

Excellent discount on this Denon...I couldn't be happier!
Received my receiver in great shape in just a few days and I couldn't be happier! I had been contemplating buying a new one for the last year since my receiver hadn't been working properly anymore, but I just wasn't ready to plunk down several hundred dollars yet. I just happened to be browsing through Amazon and I couldn't believe this Denon home A/V receiver was selling for under $300...what an unbelievable discount for all of the features this model has! Although this new one is the 2021 model, I didn't care, it was new and definitely an upgrade from my old Denon receiver. Hooked it up to my big screen and speakers and followed the setup prompts without any problems and it all works superbly!

Nice Denon AVR
I use this mainly in the office every day to listen to music. I stream from my HEOS app on my phone, usually it’s Jazz in the background. It is set up as stereo only. Also have a CD turntable that I filled with CDs and listen to those. Puts out a nice clean sound that is enjoyable to listen to. I have watched Blu-rays and the sound is great. It is a little overkill for a small office, but what the heck, when I want to pump up the music I can.

Extremely easy setup using the Denon on screen display
Excellent sound in our smallish living room space. Wireless connections were a breeze with TV and laptop etc. Using with a 5.1 speaker system with a couple JBL towers, two Polk Audio bookshelf speakers for surround and a Klipsch center speaker. Clean at any level I'll listen to and lots of bass even without a subwoofer which I'm waiting to have delivered. Heos for my Amazon music was easy to get going as well.

Excellent 5.2 companion for movies and music.
Perfect product with relevant features which are updated. Nicely balanced for music as well as theatre like movies experience. Very importantly this is moderately priced on Amazon. I am writing this after enjoying this product for last 7 months.
