Politically charged
I was expecting a book that would help teach kids to build their social confidence but it is very politically charged and I wonโt be giving it to kids to read.

Good for the most part but ruined somewhat by fad techniques
Overall okay advice, and fun art. Unfortunately the last quarter is politically charged. It seems aimed at kids in more priviliged parts of society and makes sweeping assumptions about the experiences and thoughts of various groups to whom the author doesn't belong. The book also struggles to stay age-appropriate. I think by the time my child is old enough to read this book, this finger-wagging, nuance-avoidant approach to "being an ally", and various other topics, will seem quite dated and make it harder rather than easier for them to get along with their peers.

interesting book
I read it as a parent and loved that it helped to improve my communication and advice giving for my daughter, but its not as includive as I would have liked. She didn't want to read it, she thinks she knows everything, but would take my advice on topics that were covered in the book and it really helped, especially as I was able to adjust and accommodate the advice appropriately.

Good choice for kids who arenโt deep readers
Simple book with some important content inside. Good read for a child who lacks confidence or wants to be more empathetic. Great for middle school and beyond. Very light reading with tonnes of illustrations.

Not worth it, unless you're raising an activist
