The hilarious history book for kids, all about the human body, from bestselling, record-breaking author and illustrator Adam Kay and Henry Paker. The olden days were pretty fun if you liked wearing chainmail or chopping people's heads off. But there was one TINY LITTLE problem back then . . . doctors didn't have the slightest clue about how our bodies worked. It's time to delve into history and get some answers to some big questions, like: Why did patients gargle with wee? Why did people used to get paid for farting? (Unfortunately that’s no longer a thing – sorry.) How did a doctor save people's lives using a washing machine, a can of beans and some old sausages? What was the great stink? (No, it's not what doctors call your bum.) If you're sure you're ready, then pop a peg on your nose (there was a lot of stinky pus back then), pull on your wellies (there was a lot of poo there too), wash your hands (because they certainly didn't) and explore this gross and gruesome history of the human body! Praise for Kay's Anatomy : 'An enjoyably gross look at the human body. Hours of gruesome fun guaranteed ' - i 'Like listening to a teacher who makes pupils fall about' - Sunday Times 'Totally brilliant !' - Jacqueline Wilson ' Fun and informative ' - Malorie Blackman 'Very funny - this exciting book is bound to inspire the next generation of medics' - Sunday Express

Educational and laugh out loud book for children
Bought this book for my 9 year old grandson as an "extra" Christmas present, not only is it educational but it is also very funny and well written. If your children or grandchildren like the BBC TV series Horrible Histories, then they'll love this book too it presents factual information in a way that is both interesting, intelligent and also fun to read.I read it myself before wrapping and it's great!

Fun!
My 7 year old grandson read it from cover to cover in a couple of days. Just up his street! A bright boy, and prolific reader.

Very good
Now, obviously I'm not the target audience, but I really did enjoy this book. I had to rephrase certain words and miss out some altogether. Kids will probably love the "funny" language in it. There are chapters on the Lungs, Heart etc and each chapter tells what they did; in relation to the lungs, or the heart, for example in Ancient Egypt, Ancient Rome et al, including Sparkle Time (Kay's name for the Middle Ages) As well as this there are also breakthroughs that happened in a particular year. Also, there are sections on the most important medical pioneers, like Marie Curie etc, called 5 facts and a lie. I found it entertaining, informative; there were some things I didn't know. You get predictions from Lays robot butler; most of which genuinely are interesting. It is aimed at children, but it's still a very good read overall.

Bought for my granddaughter. She said it was funny lots of poo but very informative
Bought for my granddaughter who is 7.5 yrs old. She said it as a funny book to read, even funnier when her dad read it to her. It talks about “poo” a lot but she found it very interesting and informative. A great was of learning history and about the human body and it’s functions. My son thought it too advanced for his younger daughter who is 5 yrs old so will save it for when she is a little older.

My 11 yr old absolutely loves them
My daughter 11 wants to be a childrens doctor when she’s older, it’s a dream that comes from her many hospital visits. Thing is there’s not much to engage, encourage and inspire children between 8-14 with knowledge that fun! This book has hit the nail on the head!! Please we have both your books write more and don’t stop these are brilliant! Engaging and funny! We need more to feed the interested in children that are wanting to be doctors. Totally genius books

Amazing book
This children’s and teen book is definitely worth reading for adults too. The humourous medical acronyms and stories make it both entertaining and educational.
