Rose of Jericho - Resurrection Plant/Flower - Selaginella Lepidophylla (2)

I was skeptical, but this is so neat! It looked like a ball of dried twigs and dead leaves when I opened the bag and there was even a puff of dust. Within 20 minutes it had started to open, and within an hour it was greening up. Within 24 hours it was fully opened and almost fully green, aside from a couple of browned leaves. I’m buying another! Edit: 2nd one I ordered was a total dud. Opened a tiny bit, never turned green. Super disappointing.

Had always been curious about this little desert survivor, had to get one for my granddaughter's treasure chest garden so naturally, I had to have one, too. It's never turned green but that's OK because I live in Baja AZ and there are LOTS of plants that brown up but are still alive so it fits right in. It feels like more of a pet than a plant. Easy peasy to take care of, the greatest soil requirement is good drainage. Mine lives on small aquarium gravel. GREAT little plant to get inattentive little ones interested in the wonders of Ma Nature.

I bought it because it reminded me of my grandma who always had her growing . I purchased one which was not expensive at all it started growing, within a few days . Turned out great nice color green , looks like a fern .

I was excited to finally buy this especially since the price lowered, but not so much anymore. It arrived messier than expected and dirt spilled everywhere. There also wasn't any care guide or information provided in the packaging. After letting it soak in water for a day it was definitely impressive to see how green and lively it became. What has been conflicted are two things. The first issue is the smell. Once wet, this plant smells like a murky pond (smells bad). Second, is the water which also happened to look and smell like a murky pond. Despite cleaning the plant thoroughly and replacing the water, it took less than a day before the water became slimy and produced white muck. There's no way to keep this plant in still water, nonetheless, a container without it smelling and looking nasty. You need a filter or air pump to provide water flow if you plan on keeping this in water. I definitely would never use this in tea either. Thankfully, I have an air pump so ill keep this outside, and hopefully, it'll flourish into something worth having. If not, ill pass it on as a cool project for kids to explore before throwing it out.

It arrived in a bubble bag with pieces of the plant all broken up (like a shaker of thyme or oregano had been sprinkled in there) as pictured with more debris under the plant ball. That should have been a red flag especially given that it came with NO Instructions and NO Labeling-- just arrived in this clear bubble bag. Looked up how to grow or resurrect this plant online and followed placing in shallow dish, don't drown it, allow to dry out every so often...that didn't work. Tried in hydroton so it's never sitting in water, that didn't work. The best the plant ever looked was in pic 4 for about a day. I guess I should have returned it immediately when it arrived looking like that but they make it sound like this plant lives through anything - clearly that is not true.

Not what I expected

Nice large size, put in a bowl of water overnight, and there you have it! Some dead foliage around the outside, but brushed and rinsed off easily. Love it! 😍
