Japanese Aircraft of World War II: 1937–1945 (Technical Guides) Review: Very Nice Guide on Japanese WWII Planes - A handy well-researched guide for any WWII or aviation buff. Lots of nice illustrations and a very comprehensive chart of all types of Japanese aircraft at the back. Highly recommend. Review: Great survey book of Japanese WW2 planes. - This is a great overview of the major japanese planes used 1937-1945 and some interesting prototype jet and rocket planes. The book is all in colour and the pictures of the planes are excellent. Included is a useful table of US codenames vs Japanese names ie. Betty = G4M. A surprise was a full summary of production numbers for each model variant as well as an explanation of how the JAAF and JNAF derived their plane name codes, and X-ray drawings of several major type planes. There are pictures for most subtypes but strangely we get six Ki-61-I but no N1K1-J picture, also some subtype pictures are named wrongly (blame the printers?). The information about the planes is often very superficial and not up to date. For example Raiden J2M is not explained as been a curtailed production type as many were lost to unexplained crashes and uncontrolled vibation problems. But it does have pages on G3M Nell, B7A Grace, Ki-51 Sonia and alot on Ki-49 Helen that are often negelected by other books. A second edition of this book with a few more pics of the important subtypes (named correctly) could become a must have. Nevertherless this is a beautiful book and definately worth the price.

A small book with a small amount of information
Good illustrations, brief aircraft specs and descriptions. OK for the price. Recommended.

THOROUGH REVIEW
Like: Very good recapitulation of types of aircraft. Dislike: Lack of vulnerabilities of the aircraft in combat. Summation of losses. Conclusion: Would certainly recommend this book.

Beautiful accurate Artwork
Superb illustrations, accurate text, and a bargain at this price! A very nice addition to my library. My only gripe is a lack of 3 view drawings. I highly recommend to both the newcomer and the seasoned enthusiast!

fits in w/the plethora of similar books on the subject - nice hardcover & high quality gloss paper
Japanese Aircraft of World War II: 1937-1945 (Technical Guides): It fits right in with the plethora of similar available books. I appreciate the hard cover and high quality gloss paper. The vast majority of the illustrations are side views. I'd hoped for more top/bottom views to inspire my 1/48 model paint/decal schemes. Oh well. The detailed x-ray views at the end of the book were interesting but too small. They would've been much more useful at double or triple the size.

Fantastisch!

Good book on a subject that is of great interest to me and for which not many resource works can be found. It is not a cheap book, but it is well done.

Finally a good pictorial book on WW 2 Japanese combat aircraft types. It should be a good reference while reading about the CBI and the Pacific Theatre. As an added bonus ....despite being a quite small and handy hard cover edition....it still has nice color pictures and cutaway drawings.
