It is very soft, not stiff at all.

All stuffed animals are surface wash only. This is to avoid mildewing inside the animal.

Is this a pink hippo?

It has been a few years since I purchased this. However, I believe it is gray. It was for a boy, so I'm sure it wasn't pink.
