Read the instructions
I had older Victorio manual crank model; time consuming, but I did it. Later, bought add-on motor to make it electric. It leaked all over the place from every end, but I used it for years. I just got the Weston model this week, used for 1st time today. Once I put it together, I finished 7 qts of tomato sauce to freeze in 30 minutes. No leaks, works great. But read the instructions! I had watched a woman do tomatoes in one on a video. First thing I noticed is gray juice running out of her machine. 1. The head is aluminium. If you run it through the dishwasher, it's no longer shiny. Instructions say only plastic parts are dishwasher safe. 2. Instructions say to coat head with food-grade silicone spray. -bc we all have that sitting around.๐ I lightly coated with vegetable oil; no gray juice. Instructions say to chop food into smaller pieces and not to run for more than 5 minutes at a time. I noted one review complained hers caught on fire, so I figured that was a good rule to follow. I cleaned my tomatoes, did not blanch, cut up some into a container, ran them through, shut it off and cleared shute before preparing another container full. May sound tedious, but -7 quarts of sauce in 30 minutes! The manual style made doing tomatoes a long process. Adding a motor to it made a horrible mess with wasted product & clean up a nightmare. THIS is so worth following the instructions, and clean up was a breeze. I noted one review complained about the shute being so low that it was hard to get a decent sized bowl under it. Maybe they rectified that bc shute is adjustable. BUT: With the manual model, having the shoot too high caused a back up and - you guessed it-leaks. But I was limited on where I could use it bc it mounted to the edge of a countertop with a clamp. This Weston model has no clamp and can be used anywhere. I set it next to the sink with a large bowl and small bowl sitting in the sink. The product came out of the shute into large bowl and the skin/waste went into small bowl. Clean up was a breeze! Noise level- not as loud as the add on motor I had. Not a heavy duty motor, I understand why they advice to not run continuously. Value- phenominal, given time and product saved, no mess, easy clean up, user friendly set up (if you read the instructions). If they had used stainless for the head, the gray residue wouldn't be an issue, but comparing prices of higher end models, it makes it more affordable to use aluminium.

Fantastic product! just get it!
I would say do not hesitate to buy this if you are comparing, look no further. The price is amazing and it works better than the way more expensive models! You will not regret this purchase! It made my tomato sauce making a breeze and the skins and seeds separated where they came out so dry, maximizing every bit of goodness from the tomatoโs. comes with multiple size strainer attachments for making so many things. Best purchase ever!!!

Freaking Amazing!
I've been an Amazon customer for however long it's been available and this is my FIRST EVER Amazon review. I just HAD to review this product because it's amazing! I am generally very nervous about trying to put together things like this but the Weston instruction booklet was phenomenal. I wish other companies would take a look at what they did and replicate it. It's short, concise and easy to follow. I saw one typo... and there was one confusing thing - pgs 6 and 7 provide a numerical identification of all of the parts, one of which is identified as the "Head" but the assembly instructions refer to it multiple times as both the "Head" and then separately as the "Grinder Head" and since that was a different term, I kept looking for a different part called the Grinder Head - it's the same thing as the Head. Just FYI. I pulled everything out of the box. One thing I would suggest is to remember where everything was because unless you have space in your kitchen for the assembled product, then you are going to want to put everything back into the box and there's over 10 parts and the they don't all go in the same place within the box - some things are housed over Styrofoam and others are under Styrofoam . So, just make a mental note of where you pulled things from so that everything fits nicely when you put it back. - Note to Weston - you should place identification numbers in the Styrofoam to match the parts contained on page 6 of the instructions (the assembly parts) to make it easier for your customers. Next, make sure you read the instructions for use (pg 11) and the Reverse Function (pg 12) before you use it. Very simple to read but the information seems important in terms of long lasting productivity. I had everything out of the box, instructions read and the product was quickly put together all within 10 minutes after which time, I squealed in delight! I used it immediately and there were NO issues whatsoever and then I put everything back into the box. It was super fun; a very satisfying purchase. I tried to upload a video that I took using it - but I can't figure out how to upload the video... that says a lot of how easy this was to put together. I was able to figure that out - but not uploading a video for this review! LOL

Excellent for home canning, enough power to work with raw tomatoes
It worked well with Roma, Field and San Marzano tomatoes. I was doing batches of 60-80 pounds at a time. It handled the loads without any issues. I elevated the Tomato Strainer by a couple of inches(my 2 inch thick wooden cutting board) and that extra incline made the processing work so much better. It wasn't necessary to pre peel the tomatoes. For Home Canning, this is a good budget machine that can do the work.
