The description says cotton, but some of the reviews say polyester.** A: I don't think it's polyester. I don't see the tag anymore on my scarf. It is very soft though; like cotton. I feel like it's more like rayon. It's very thin and sheer. It may be a cotton/rayon blend. The pattern appears true to the posted image; although the reddish colors are slightly less pink in tone. The floral pattern is crisp and vibrant, and the background is a rich, pleasant true yellow. The colors in the floral pattern lend themselves to wearing the scarf with clothing of blue, red, orange, purple, and green in the olive tones. The fabric is a slightly coarse, more open weave cotton voile. Voile is always a delicate fabric; and this scarf may be slightly more prone to snagging due to the looser weave; but that is the nature of voile in general. The size is as expected: the length and width is sufficently generous to allow use as a shawl (I am not a petite woman). The fabric also drapes softly when used as a neck scarf. The edge hemming is sewn in a longer stitch, which may help prevent puckering after laundering, but may also be a bit more prone to snagging. The scarf does need a cool touch up ironing to remove packing creases. Not going to keep you warm in the winter as a wrap, but will be beautiful around your neck without the itching some scarfs can cause.
