Otherwise I used to discover 'buried' surprises far too often for my taste. Also provides good protection from the kind of random hailstorms we've been having and from heavy rain or winds while letting enough sun and rain through.My mint, thyme and strawberry plants are thriving and now I'm also optimistic about the other things I've planted. Just have to remember to see if any slugs or snails have wandered in. They easily can but somehow aren't doing so in droves anymore.One end of my bed has too much buried 'legacy' rubble so I just couldn't get one set of the spikes / stays to go all the way in. Has shielded my cabbages and cauliflowers fabulously for the par two years. Also temperature is maintained and water saved well so had good yields. I do have to change it to a larger cage once plants get big as they push it up or are prevented from growing to their full potential.
