SO I HAVE THIS PERSIAN THAT MY FRIENDS HAVE AFFECTIONATELY NAMED "MISS PRISS"
OMG, this cat is nuts and picky beyond reason. I've had black Persians, white Persians and my most recent is a chocolate Persian and maybe chocolate is the second rarest colourway and maybe that contributes to the problem, but she's pretty and she is exotic and I could not resist when I saw her. So her first year I buy her all the cat food brands that my other cats have eaten over the years. The first night I called the breeder hysterical because the kitten refuses to eat and by the time I was done, I had donated hundreds of dollars of kitten food to the local shelters and I had a $149+ credit at Petsmart. In the end my kitten would eat only Royal Canin Kitten Wet and Purina One Dry. Nothing else, period. At exactly one year of age she stopped eating everything, I drag her to the vet and they find nothing wrong. For the next few months she will only eat dry (terrible for a Persian, her coat just dried out) and only Purina Beyond. A few months later and a few more trips to the vet, my One Year old chocolate Persian decides she will only eat Fancy Feast SENIOR Pate, Chicken. And I spend the next year writing to every 'expert' at all the pet websites and no-one has ever heard of this! At her second year checkup I bring this up to my vet and she no, this cat has to eat age appropriate cat food (for nutritional content) and she must be willing to eat more than one variety because there were some real supply chain issues with Covid and what if it happens again. Now I have tried all the the most expensive brands because this cat layers and underlays of long, thick fur and you can feel a difference in their coat with the super, super expensive cat foods, but no-one told my cat. And so we go from the most expensive to the least expensive and she get thinner and thinner until we finally find Fancy Feast Chicken & Liver and Beef & Chicken. It takes coaxing but she does give in and will eat it. Then I found the Fancy Feast Poultry and Beef Feast Classic Pate Collection and tried that, she always gives me a little trouble with one of the flavors (on a rotating basis) but for the most part eats it. There are a few different Variety Packs but she always refuses to eat one of the flavors in the variety packs and it's not worth it. Lets just say she is ultra picky (and totally nuts). And with time, her coat is every bit as nice as my other Persians and of all my cats she appears to be the healthiest with least amount of in-bred issues. I can tell a real difference nutrition-wise between the Senior and the age appropriate varieties, she has way more energy now than she did when she was on Senior (go figure!). So if you have a "Miss Priss", you may as well give in and try this stuff. It's not the most expensive but it works just fine.
