Nice upgrade for my Surface 3 at good value
I was a little skeptical given the low price for this item but given the reviews I tried it. I'm quite pleased so far. I like to always have a 256gb flash drive plugged into the Surface 3. But with only one USB port that eliminates any accesories or other drives unless I unplug my primary one. This hub allows me to keep the primary plugged in while using the other USB for other stuff. With the memory card slots I often just plug them in directly to transfer and I don't even use the extra port. Very handy. I figured the fit might be sacrificed at the low price point but it has the appropriate bevel and fits snug so wobbling won't be compromising the ports over the long term. The original charging cable plugs in right next to my flash drive and I've noticed no difference in charge rate. I also have not noticed any heat issues transferring large quantities of files between drives. I don't see any down sides to it. It does stick out about 3/4 inch so that should be considered if you have a case or a sleeve. I don't have a case - just a generic sleeve I use when in transit. Still fits in mine but this should be checked. I'm pleased with the purchase.

Conceptionally brilliant concept however, as made not so much
The concept is good. A way to power your Surface 3 and charge other things like your phones and such. During first use, it worked adequately but wasn't charging the Surface 3. Reset the cables and it worked fine for a few hours and then the internal connector for the power source contained in the adapter broke altogether. The device is no longer usable. I am not sure how it happened but nothing was pulled on or the like. Perhaps what held the connector inside the device was not up to snuff but, there is no way to tell because its one solid "block" of plastic and no way to get inside to look see. I'd give it a 5-star rating except it broke. Hopefully, yours won't.

Not durable!
I bought this for my tablet, I used it twice and it broke. I was using it as an extender for my charge port. Worked great twice and then it snapped.

It works....but.........
While it works as-designed, it was iffy when trying to recognize the USB ports. I found that you need to insert the adapter after the PC has been booted (or disengage the adapter and re-insert) so it recognizes the additional ports. It does recognize the power source regardless.

This is a rubbish product!
Despite what others reviews have said, I unfortunately chose to purchase this as it was ideal for my requirements. However, like other reviewers, the Micro USB power input disappeared into the internals of the hub on the second use. It is still there somewhere inside the hub as when I shake it I can hear it loose inside the hub. As this is proven to be an ongoing issue THIS SHOULD BE WITHDRAWN FROM SALE!!!

Two power-hungry USB devices will cause a port overload situation.
Great for port expansion. Wish it was metal and not plastic. Just note that the Surface 3 USB 3.0 port can only reliably power one device even though the Juiced systems adapter provides two USB ports. I had power surge faults when trying to connect a DJI Osmo action camera and a 5400 RPM backup HDD at the same time. It would have worked if I just plugged the micro SD card into the adapter. Trying to charge and transfer files was problematic. This seems like the limitation of the Surface 3 USB port than the USB hub.

Perfect adapter for a Surface 3
The media could not be loaded. I travel frequently and the footprint of a Surface works perfectly for most commercial airplanes. I needed something to expand my devices while in flight. Most of the adapters for Surface Pro 3s cover the charging port of the device. This adapter works perfectly and both USB ports are 3.0 and not 2.0. The adapter plugs right into the surface charger and the USB port perfectly. This is the $10 adapter in the video Alcey Microsoft Surface USB HUB 3.0 & 2-Slot Card Reader 4 in 1 Adapter - SD/SDHC/MMC4.0, Micro SD/SDHC, USB 3.0 Port, USB Host with Optional Micro USB Input

Does not fit with case
With the UAG case, the plugs on the adapter cannot reach the ports of the Surface 3. It does work fine without a case. However, with the current price of the official Surface 3 Docking Station being $15 as of this writing, the value of this particular adapter is dubious without the advantage of being usable with a case.
