Once the kickstand is in this cover, the fit and stability is awesome. It does make your surface much thicker, but it's worth the protection and functionality of this product. Writing is great and it stays upright for all laptop use. The design does make it a little long in the back when using it like a laptop though.No complaints almost a year in, it has lasted numerous travel trips and daily coffee shop visits in my backpack.

While my Surface Pro 8 is very sturdy and likely doesn't need a case, it has a flaw -- the power button is on one side and the volume switch is on the other, so if I put my Surface in portrait orientation on a table, the power button or volume gets pressed and held which causes issues! This case fixes that issue by holding the surface within a support. In addition, this design allows for the keyboard to be opened with the case attached.Fantastic design and quality. I'd buy from this company again.

Seller needs to put better instructions on how to attach a laptop to this cover. I had started a return on Amazon and looking for another cover. The other cover had very precise instructions. I was able to use those instructions for this cover and it works fine now. Taking 1 point off for that.

It's easy to put onto the surface, a bit harder to take off but that's good so it won't fall off if you do drop your surface. The case itself also folds and flips over well with the surface in laptop or tablet mode.

Overall, I'm very happy with this case for it's price. Arrived as advertised and fits the Surface Pro 8 well. However, when I try to attach my keyboard to the tablet while it is in the case, the display shuts off.As per another review, I tried putting the keyboard on the tablet outside of the case and then putting it in the case WITHOUT FOLDING THE KEYBOARD OVER THE SCREEN. This DOES work, if anyone else is having the same problem, but the moment you try to close it up you'll be back to the problem and need to take it out of the case, detach the keyboard, turn it on, attach the keyboard, and put it back in the case again.This isn't really very viable for a device that is meant to be portable and a case that is meant to protect it while on the go. If you plan on using your Surface with a keyboard, I would consider another case. Despite technically being compatible there is clearly some kind of interference issue that is tricking the tablet into thinking it is closed when it is not. If you don't have or don't use a keyboard, this a great product for it's price.
