Pioneer Mustang Group: the 354th Fighter Group in World War Ii Firm

Very good source of information on one of the most famous US fighter groups in WWII. Some photos were published restrictively in this book only, so the Osprey 354 FG title might be considered as 'brochure' when compared... Most of the photos are reproduced in size big enough to follow and examine details which kit builders will love. Others - like missing s/n, crew names or pilots assigned - are described or explained with high probabilty or at least reasonble way (for any subject oriented enthusiast). Although not an easy to find for a real bargain price, it will be valuable add to USAAF devoted aviation history geeks anyway. I confirm purchase as satisfying, and recommend this volume to P-51 and P-47 fans.

A monster of a book..Hundreds of photos (all vlack and white, naturally), dozens pf aircraft paintings (in color) uper detailed appendices.But, don't be mistaken: this is only for the die-hard afficionado. It is not a book to read in order from the first to last page. It is a souce book, you can check facts and read the chapters almost at random; you can focus on certain periods or on certain statements by the pilots, statements that are soread by the hundreds through the whole book.A huge undertaking by the author, a work of love that is definitely the definitive history of this fighter group.

My dad is on several pages of this book, which is why I am giving this book 5 stars. Otherwise, the book is excellent and well-researched, which is the other reason I am giving the book five stars

Schiffer Books are hard to beat when it comes to providing a book with large ammounts of photos and information, although more expensive you definitely get what you pay for. I have a fairly large collection of their books, the photos alone make the books outstanding, this book is no exception.
