I was fairly confident because I have been using a similar chair, same brand, different style (slightly) for the last ten years and loved it. I just wanted a different color. This one is smaller, yet just the right size, sits firmer, yet comfy enough that I routinely fall asleep in front of the TV. If I were a big, brawny 300 lb. man it might be too small. As a medium size woman, it's perfect. It's a great value! I paid $1,000 for my old one, ten years ago, and sold it on Craigslist for $250.
