Perfect For In-Flight Access
I have more Baggallini bags than I care to admit, but that's because each serves a specific purpose. In the case of this Avenue Tote, I love it for its ability to carry everything that I want to access during my flight: iPad, headphones, passport, wallet, glasses. It's not so big that I can't also use it as a purse when I'm on the ground, although I use it as such only until I can access a packed crossbody. It's lightweight and versatile. I love that I can unzip the back pocket so that I can put it over an extended luggage handle. But if I choose, I can instead close the zipper for an extra outside pocket. It also has an small exterior zippered pocket, a triangular-shaped slip pocket with luggage tag, and two outside pockets for a small umbrella and/or water bottle. Inside, it has a padded area for laptop or tablet, zipper pocket for easy access to smaller items, a pen pocket, another small slip pocket that I use for reading glasses, and a slip pocket that's probably meant for a smartphone, although it's not deep enough to keep mine securely in place. While there's enough room for, say, spare underwear, it doesn't have enough room to pack a change of clothes in case my luggage gets lost. It comes with a detachable strap to make it into a crossbody, useful for when I don't have a carry-on to attach it to. Still, the strap is not something I expect to use frequently, if at all. Because I wear a lot of blue -- I generally choose blue or black for my base color while traveling -- this tote works well with both my wardrobe and my in-flight needs. -- Debbie Lee Wesselmann

Great Purchase, NOT A DISSAPOINTMENT!
Wow, love it with all the pockets and zippers, especially the zipper for luggage handle. Because its an option for you to put items in there if you are not slipping in the luggage handle. I put things in there. Well manufactured, quality is outstanding. Material is wipe off. Like that my flashlight/fan fit in outside pocket. Its hot here. Also my water bottle, which really fits any size. Love that top slot to put my cell in there. So ordered 2 Carryall Tote. French Blue and Thyme. Both also are fabulous and included a rfid wallet. Just received yesterday so I haven't used yet. Love that French Blue color. Again just a bit bigger than Avenue. Same quality. Was interested in the large Central Park Sling in French Blue, but can't afford now. I've been using the Avenue Tote as a daily bag, believe me NOT disappointed. Looks classy!!

Best and Most Versatile
Minor update to the below review: It's fall 2022 now and the bag is still kicking butt and has not fallen apart. It's been machine washed a couple times. It has also subbed in when my backpack broke, holding a Chromebook daily for a while. My 2017 review still stands; just wanted to let you know that this thing is still alive and kicking. Original Review: This is not only my favorite Baggallini bag yet; it's also probably my favorite purse that I've ever had. It can hold a LOT of stuff, and the many inside and outside pockets keep it all organized. I'm a public transit commuter in DC and need every item I own on me at all times (haha) while I run around on trains, so I'll tell you it has held these items all at once: an umbrella, a bunch of makeup/toiletries, a smartphone, a wallet, heavy-knit hat/gloves, a book, a bottle of water, a light second bag, a large fleece sweatshirt, and a pair of ankle boots. ALL AT ONCE. And I still could have gotten more in the outer pockets. The bag also has a nice look to it, especially in a sophisticated and versatile black. I considered other colors, since I own a couple other Baggallinis and am familiar with them, but ended up going with black. It matches every coat, and it works for travel, commuting, day-to-day, and formal situations. The long strap + two short straps are also nicely functional. Traveling on foot so much, it's really helpful to be able to throw the bag across my shoulder and not have to hold it while I move. And the material is sufficiently water resistant so far--haven't had my inside stuff get wet yet, but I've only had the purse a month. Zipping fully closed is another reason I chose this one, compared to another Baggallini I have which doesn't close at all (I've never understood that!). And the whole construction feels durable and tough. Hope that helps! I don't want to own a million purses (though I might...). I just want one that does everything, and this seems to be it.

Almost perfect
Edit April 5/24: Some airlines have recently become more stringent about enforcing their personal item (purse/backpack) rules and some have also changed theirs. This bag comes in at 45.7cm wide x 30.5cm tall x 14cm deep. The only two airlines I can find that this will fit for are American Airlines and EasyJet, and thatโs only if itโs not stuffed full. Some airlines like Delta, AirFrance and Virgin Atlantic, only state that a purse or backpack must fit under the seat but donโt give specific measurements. This bag is too tall at 30.5cm for United, AerLingus and RyanAir who want a max of 25cm. Eight of the European carriers want a max of 30cm so you might be able to get away with 30.5cm. The bag is too deep at 14cm for Lufthansa who want a max depth of 10cm. At 45.7cm, itโs too wide for everyone except EasyJet and American Airlines. If the manufacturer could bring the width closer to 40cm it would fit many more airlines. ************************************** I adore this bag for travelling. Itโs my go-to for nearly every trip. My daughter and I both have one. Tons of space & internal organizing pockets, a spot for your phone and comfortable shoulder strap length. Really a great bag. I would suggest 3 improvements to the makers: 1) make it anti-theft with locking zippers, rfid blocking or steel mesh in the body 2) a zippered pocket for a water bottle 3) a more comfortable/padded crossbody strap. This one is a bit too narrow and the adjuster slides too easily while wearing it. 4) shave a little over 1 inch off the width measurement so it fits the airline requirements better.

Nice looking AND built to last.
If you've never owned a baggallini, it's in your best interest to change that. I'm really hard on my bags. When I replace a purse it's out of necessity not vanity. I had a baggallini years ago and only stopped using it to upsize. No rips, no broken zippers, no lining coming off. I since switched to laptop size bags because I'm always toting around notebooks, catalogs, binders, papers and office supplies. I went through 2 bags since 2019 because of broken handles and rips in the lining and outside pockets. This bag is as beast as the last baggallini I owned! Let me rattle off my reasons... -The colors and texture are pretty! -The design is appealing. -The outside pockets are deep and sturdy, no more dropped phone or separating from the bag. I carry a stapler in the one pocket. -The bottom has a functional gusset. If you have anything in the bag it stands up on its own. It's not hard bottomed, but the fabric weight and the structure of the bag make it stand upright. I have a tendency to hang bags that aren't freestanding on chairs... and because they're stuffed, they're heavy and have been known to pull over what ever I hang them on. -The padded side is great when I have to tote a laptop, but most of the time I use it like a file folder! I can put loose paper stacks and paper catalogs in it and not worry about banged up edges and torn papers when I throw my wallet (or my kids action figures) in the bag. - There's a crossbody strap. Super win for needing my hands free. And the shoulder straps are actually long enough to be functional for my chubby self. -The straps are so sturdy. I'm clumsy and cannot tell you how many times I get a handle stuck on something and pull anyway ๐ if this were any other bag I'd have torn a handle by now. -The top zipper is great, also gusseted so I can fit binders and it still closes! I use it for work and for daily use like a purse. I could see this being amazing for travel too. If you're on the fence, just get it!

The Perfect Tote
This tote is the perfect replacement for a simpler one of similar fabric that I've used daily and throughout world travels for over ten years. Sadly, that zipper finally died for good and thus, my quest for the next generation led me to the Baggallini products. I accidentally ordered the Hobo bag a year ago, (in a rush) and realized my mistake when I received it. However, it, too, is/was a wonderful product (except for the very slippery shoulder strap, to which I added a sewn piece of suede leather. On the tote, I only use the shorter handles)โbut just a bit too small for all the stuff I like to keep with me, which often includes books and magazines I'm reading, water bottle, rolled-up down vest, etc.. Thus, I finally ordered this toteโthe one I meant to order a year agoโand found that the difference between the solid black and black/Cheetah pattern was $40! At that price gap, I figured I could live with whatever was Cheetah. The very subtle pattern is barely noticeable, and when it is, it just seems slightly upscaleโscore! (Plus, it happens to match the Olukai sandals my daughter gifted me!). Everything about this tote is solid, well-made, well-thought out, and functional. I like the dull silver hardware (shiny silver and/or gold are too fancy for my mostly casual style), its roomy interior, the fact that it stands up just fine with just a few items stashed in the bottom (I often prop it on the floor next to me), and all the nooks and crannies (including one capacious zippered pocket inside) built into the interior (and exterior) that can accommodate everything from phone to laptop. My own 15" MacBook Pro fits into the top but not all the way down due to the bag's angled sides, but, my husband's 13" MacBook Pro fits perfectly into the padded interior pocket secured with a center velcro strap. I don't carry my laptop around like this, but, it's entirely possible for those who doโand definitely a plus for iPad-people. With its sturdy construction, delightfully useful details, and good looks that fit both dress-up and dress-down situations, I'm confident that it'll be at least 20 years before I have to look again for another.

Bagallini Tote - A Perfect Travel Companion!
I purchased this tote to use as a carry-on along with my rolling computer case. One of the best features of this tote is that on one side it has two horizontal zippers - when both are unzipped the bag can slide over the handle of your suitcase or computer roller bag for easy management of mulitple bags while traveling - or you can unzip the top zipper to create an additional outside pocket. This bag is extremely well made - the fabric is high quality and water resistant on the outside. The inside has multiple pockets for oranization, a large zippered pocket, a fob for keys and a padded section for a laptop or tablet. I usually fill this bag with those things I want to have within easy reach on the plane - my iPad, phone, a light travel blanket, headphones, snacks, water bottle, and even my purse (small/medium size) all fit in this bag - it consolidates all my most important items in one bag. I like the small outside zippered pocket to keep my boarding pass and ID in easy/secure reach. This bag comes in a wide variety of colors - I purchased it in purple and the color is warm and vibrant. Every part of this bag is high quality - the fabric, stitching, zippers, removable strap and clasps. It is lightweight, yet durable. I've used this bag on 5 or 6 trips so far and it looks brand new. The bag is exactly as pictured - the only exception is the scale depicted on the model - the proportion of the bag in relationship to the model is slightly larger in the picture than in person (the bag dimensions are 12 x 13"), but this is minor compare to the overall, accurate representation of the pictures. This is my 2nd Bagallini product and I am very pleased with this purchase.

Nice enough bag
Overall this is a nice enough bag. Pros: 1. It looks sleek and more feminine than my backpack 2. Somewhat water resistant in rainy or snowy weather 3. Has a zipper (for security and again, against the elements) 4. I like the silver hardware (buckles, zippers, etc.) 5. The handles are long enough that you can put it on your shoulder and it's pretty comfortable 6. You can also wear it crossbody with the strap Cons: 1. The clips on the strap look nice, but they're kind of a lobster claw design. It's possible for them to hit something, release the strap and have the tote crash to the ground 2. The ID holder in the front pouch is very cheaply made. I would never us it and cut it out. 3. It's missing the little wallet that my Sydney crossbody bags have. Luckily I have a black one so was able to transfer it to this tote 4. It's missing the elastic loops that the Sydney crossbody bags have where you can put lipstick of chapstick for easy reach 5. The compartment where you put the laptop faces away from your body AND, the padding is toward the inside of the bag. In other words, there is no padding protecting the laptop from being hit by oncoming obstacles as you walk. 6. The internal pockets are very cheap, thin and do not hold their shape so items fall out 7. The pockets that I guess you're supposed to put pens in can hold at least 3, so again, it's really easy for them to fall out. At first I thought they might be for lipstick/chapstick but they're too deep and it'd be a problem to try and get them back out. So, overall it's okay and I can use it. I subsequently bought a Harvey messenger bag and paid about $40 more and it's so much nicer and feels more solid, if a little less feminine looking. I really hope that Baggallini will address the issues that I (and many other reviewers) have listed. I'd like to have other colors but won't invest until they do.

A lovely-looking sturdy bag
My girl has been using this bag for years to carry her heavy laptop and it is still in good shape. But it seemed that Baggallini quality is declining, and the small bag I bought recently just broke its strap (detaching from the bag) on my first use, worse than my $3 foldable bags. As Baggallini charges premium prices, maintaining high quality standards is essential. I hope youโll take this issue seriously to prevent losing loyal customers in the future.

Great for airplane travel!
Tote is great for airplane travel, as it fits under the seat perfectly. Durable material looks great, fits tons inside while still zipping up and keeps my tablet and accessories safe. The pocket to go over your suitcase handle is good too. Great way to stay organized when travelling! One trip down and many to come with this bag. Only wish is that it came with a small Baggallini RFID pouch like some others do, but I bought one separately.

Update - replacement bag is perfect! No defective zipper(s)
Update: the replacement bag arrived today and I'm happy to report that all of the zippers work perfectly! Beautiful bag, great quality! Initial review: Just received yesterday, overall a beautiful bag. Issues with three of the zippers unfortunately..the top luggage strap zip is defective (teeth have separated, won't zip open or closed, and there's a hole in the fabric alongside the teeth), the small front zip and the inside zip (both are VERY difficult to open and close although neither look damaged, but the force required to open/close them make them unusable and prone to future damage). The top main zip and the bottom luggage strap zip both work flawlessly, easy to open/close...this is how ALL of the zippers should be. On the up side, my Lenovo thinkpad T480 fits the laptop sleeve perfectly (measures 13"x9"), the shoulder straps are long enough to slip easily onto my shoulder, the overall quality is very good aside from the zippers. I'm returning this one, have requested a replacement, and am crossing my fingers the new one is problem-free.

LOVE THIS BAG
LOVE THIS BAG! Perfect size for travel. Will be using it as my handbag on the plane, and it will hold my table with lots of room for other stuff.. Love the back slot that allows you to slide it onto the handle of rolling suitcase. Cross body strap is very handy for travel. And actual colour is better than photo - a darker neutral tan.
