Comfortable, looks good
For a woman body 5'4" slim/average, small size works well. Black. I ride on a minimal racing saddle fit to my sit bone width. (Basically in the bike shop years ago, I did a test and measured it and we got a saddle with those dimensions.) The reason for a minimal saddle is so that I can vary the amount of padding I need with clothing (rather than baked into the saddle itself). Padding position The positioning of the padding is crucial on bike shorts. I tried a few others and had to return them. They did not place the padding where my sit bones meet the saddle. I ride in a more aggressive, racing position, and need the padding further back, because the ischial tuberosities will be extended farther back, and proximal hamstrings will be stretched. However, sometimes we shift position and sit upright (probably with no hands on the bars) to take a break, and the padding has to be more forward for that scenario. The width of the padding is also important. Others I tried were not narrow or wide enough, and my sit bones were against no padding. These are at the right width for me. Thus, it's important to wear these _on the bike_ and _while in your preferred ride positions_ before you commit to the purchase. Padding feel Comfortable. No seams intruding in the groin areas. I've also had shorts where the padding is too firm so I can't even feel the saddle anymore, which might work great for some people, but it made it hard to know where I was in space. I got so sick of those shorts that I came to hate riding and that's why I'm here-- finally found shorts that work again. The best shorts I've had were very simple, made by Performance, and were basically just padded underwear shorts, and for all genders. But I can't find those anymore. These ones are also not so slippery that I can't stay in my position. Some other reviewers intimate that the padding gets in the way when going from hover/up to seated. I haven't had this problem. I'll probably forget to update this review, so if it does happen to me later on, you'll never know. Soz. Shape and fit These are much more flattering than any women-specific shorts that I've had/tried. For whatever reason, they cheat you in women-specific shorts-- too short, too tight, too shaped. I had some where the thigh band was tighter than the rest, so it made your thighs balloon in the middle. Not the case with these. These are perfect. The length has a slimming effect. The unintentional compression is flattering around the thigh/groin. There's no real muffin-ing of the waist that I notice. Hopefully larger sizes are proportionally well made for larger bodies. My only complaint is that I wish they were more like underwear so that I could wear them under my Swrve cycling pants. But that's a different product entirely, and not one I'm sure I'll find again.

Good spinning short.
Chose these because price was right for a basic pair of shorts. Love a good pair of P/Is but do not need to throw down that cash for multiple pairs for spin classes. I used the sizing chart and they fit fine (XL for my 40 inch waist). After one ride I ordered a couple more - feeling they would serve as usable, go-to shorts for 3-4 gym rides per week. After a couple weeks of using them, including washing, I am confident recommending them. Comfortable and a good fit on me, they do what I asked them to do. They are not as 'sturdy' or as thick as P/I, but they are not cheap or flimsy. Also, indoors, I actually appreciate how light they are compared to the P/I pair. Padding is fine - covers where I need it to and doesn't move around. Stitching, materials and workmanship seem good to me. I do notice the elastic insert of the waist band can shift a little because it does not completely fill the fabric sleeve top to bottom. It can fold over and crimp - probably because I have a bigger belly (hence my need for spin classes). It is not really an issue for me at this point, but I will keep an eye on it. Will update in a few months to discuss wear. Update: I have been using these regularly for a couple months. I machine wash in cold gym stuff. A small scoop of borax and tide. Hang dry. Holding up well. Cannot beat these for the price. Update to the update. These have held up fine over a long time. Cannot tell my original pairs from newer ones. They wash up fine and maintain integrity and function. Padding is still where it should be, whereas a pricier name brand shifted. As you know - no fabric softener. I tried the new rinses that claim to remove residue & odor. Good use for sport fabric. Shorts remain highly recommended!

Four stars with a caveat...
These are definitely great for shorter rides (In my case, that's 20 miles)... Nice to have some inexpensive shorts you don't have to worry about. After 20 miles in them, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be my first choice for a century... They're great for what they are - a serviceable $20 pair of shorts.

Do these shorts make my butt look big?
Comfortable, easy to wash. I wear them whether on the road bike or the mountain bike. Good value.

cycling shorts that work
I have expensive and I have budget. These are well designed and the padding is acceptable. Everything stays where it should. Should last a long time as long as you dont throw these in with you regular wash. Lycra is not a material that should ever go into a normal cycle. Delicate cycle or a quick hand wash. I actually step right into the shower and use low chemical hand soap to lather up the kit and then ring it out and hang it to dry. Saves me time and keeps the lycra in great shape

Decent fit with an ok shamy
Overall these will get the job done for individuals going out for short (1-2hr) rides, spin class, commuting, or similar types of rides. For intermediate to long rides, the shamy leaves much to be desired. This stems from the size of the shamy more than the material or placement of the shamy. If they just offered a larger area, that would completely change this review. I could not find a position where the shamy covered the majority of where I contacted the saddle. I tried reproduced this with several saddles from Brooks, WTB, Specialized, and a couple of others. This makes those longer rides like centuries or endurance gravel and off road a bit uncomfortable. Regarding sizing, I am a solid 35 in all pants and the Large was a bit big on the waist after wearing and washing several times. The thighs felt great with the large and maintained a snug fit. Another comment mentioned going smaller and getting a great waist fit at the cost of a bit too snug fit on the thighs. This makes finding a bit difficult based on your size. While my 35 waist is solid, I often struggle finding shorts or bibs that work perfectly do to larger thighs.yy

Good introductory Bike Shorts
I would definitely suggest these as an introduction into bike shorts - certainly it's changed my mind on the necessity of some of the additional bike gear available for people who are riding on a nearly daily basis and for more than short rides. The padding is sewn in foam which helps absorb some of the shock coming in from the ground, it's certainly made a difference for me but for the record I'm riding an older bike, Raleigh Technium 480 I had gotten off of Craigslist some 7 years ago without any real shock absorption other than some springs in the saddle and the difference has been noticeable for me though it may not be for people riding more modern bicycles with shocks available. I'm relatively large for a cyclist, 205# with a 35 waist but I ended up ordering the Medium and aside from the initial adjustment period the shorts are fitting well, though I'm getting the feeling I probably stretched the elastic somewhat. That said they are still relatively tight without being uncomfortable and don't slide down at all With only 5 two hour rides under my belt with these on I currently can't speak for the durability, also riding mostly on a bike trail, but if I see any tearing or ripping in the material over time I will update the review with such information, but unlike some other reviews I haven't seen any major "loss" in cushioning, though I don't go beyond 2 hour rides, and this is coming from someone who stays in-saddle for the whole two hours. *Addendum - After several months, several hundred miles, and washes, dryings, etc the pants themselves are still holding out - no tears or issues with the stitching even though I ordered what probably was a tight fit in the first place, and though the cushioning has degraded somewhat it still provides some support and prevents chafing. For more active riders than I these would likely last about a season and then need to be replaced, but for the price I still give them 5 stars.

For $20 cycling shorts I cannot believe how good these are
If you just need a functional pair of cycling shorts but don't want to spend any money, these are absolutely great. I bought these when I first got into cycling, and (with anti-chafing cream) they are perfectly comfortable for rides under 4 hours. I once did a 6 hour ride in them and admittedly that was regretful, but it was worth testing it out lol. It's still remarkable how far I can comfortably push it with these considering this is the absolute cheapest pair of cycling shorts you can find. I now cycle every day and up to 300mi a week, and I have a pair of high end bib shorts that I wear for my longest rides, but I wear these 95% of the time. I've owned 8 pairs of these and have thrown out 3 of them because of the stitches tearing. I have been wearing mediums, which are probably too small for me now as I've gained so weight since I bought them, so that may have contributed to the wear. I also absolutely abuse them by riding on average 35 miles a day so there's that too. Also after heavy use eventually the cushion kind of dies and they loose a lot of their comfort. Still, considering you can buy like 10 of these for the price of a single pair of high-end bib shorts, ordering a few extra replacement pairs every once in a while is WAY cheaper than buying $200 high-end shorts. Yes, these are cheap shorts and they aren't great quality, but they're on par with many other shorts running for three or four times the price and they are probably fine for whatever kind of riding you are doing.

Quality padded shorts
These are quality padded shorts. The padding is well designed and makes for a smooth ride. Importantly, no loose points that create a rash. The M size fits like an M size should. I'll re-order these when needed. Very happy.

GREAT for woman TOO!!!
These "MEN"S" cycling shorts are ABSOLUTLY the MOST comfortable I have EVER found...AND I AM A WOMAN!!! I am 5' 7", and 137lbs., and I found the "men's" medium was PERFECT for me. These are DEFINATELY the VERY BEST for protecting my FEMALE groin area! I have tried EVERYTHING over MANY years, from new bike seats, to bike seat padding, to other "WOMANS" cycling shorts, but NOTHING had made ANY difference, until I stumbled onto these cycling shorts. I read the PAGES of positive reviews on eBay, especially from MANY women. and thought REALLY? No cycling shorts would EVER be THAT comfortable! BOY, WAS I EVER WRONG!!! They're GENEROUS, without being TOO bulky padding, is not only LONGER, but WIDER as well. The leg band, and waist band are not overly tight at all. The quality is GREAT, the leg length is better than any woman's cycling shorts I have found YET! The PRICE was also AMAZINGLY inexpensive, at $24.99 Canadian. THESE ARE THE BEST!! What are you waiting for?

Undeniable value, solid sizing
Edit: 2 years later I think they are just ok. I rarely wear these things. Good for 1hr rides but that's about the max. Still good for the money. I've read the reviews on pretty much all the cheap amazon cycling shorts and I decided to order these ones (mostly because the name 'sportneer' wasn't some ridiculous mandarin-to-english translation). It was a good choice. First impressions were very good. Packaging was actually quite premium. Materials feel really nice too, much better than I expected. I showed them to my mom and had her feel them and she was was also super surprised how nice they were. Brought out my Pearl Izumi Quest shorts to compare (2x the price) and my mom preferred the sportneers. The pad is actually quite nice too. The material is thinner on these than my Quest shorts, though still adequate "That's all well and good, but how do they fit?" I am 5'11" 170lbs 33" waist, and ordered the same size I wear in every other bottom - US Medium and they fit really well. Though tbh, after my first hr bike ride with them I noticed the leg cuffs were kinda tight. Not super tight, but noticeable vs my pearl izumi shorts. Still wouldn't change the size though. I still prefer my Pearl Izumi shorts purely for their better biking comfort, but these are only a slight downgrade. Great to have when my other ones might be in the wash. Remains to be seen how long these will last but I'm hopeful.

Great fit!
Sportneer cycling shorts are true to size with great quality at a good price. I have purchased these before and they are quite comfortable to ride in.
