Update: Although there was a bit of a delayed response, and 2 wasted adapters could have been avoided if communication from the company was clearer or support was easier to get, I'm upgrading my review to 4 stars because Gopala was nice enough to send me a free replacement.Unfortunately, the replacement did not help, because this adapter just won't work for my setup.This adapter only works with "active" adapters, which I think they need to make more prominent in the description, since most Apple adapters are "passive". My previous setup was monitor > Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter > 2013 MacBook, and that worked fine. The setup that didn't work was monitor > Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter > this Gopala adapter > 2016 MacBook.Thank you for sending me the replacement, and I wish I could use this adapter! Still have not been able to find one that works for my DVI monitor -> usb-c on my new MacBook.Previous Review [outdated]:I purchased this item, and it doesn't work at all. My new Macbook Pro doesn't detect that anything is plugged into that port. I can't tell if the adapter is broken, or if it's not intended to work with my monitor. I have no idea where to get product support. I didn't want to leave a negative review, but I posted a question to the community and it went unanswered, so now I'm posting here. I will update my review if this gets fixed somehow..

I have no issue with this, it just works. I can output from the 13" MacBook Pro with touch bar to the 27" Cinema Display using this adapter. I couldn't output from the MacBook Pro to an AOC monitor using this adapter and a MiniDisplay/HDMI cable for some reason. I purchased a Type C to HDMI adapter to work around this issue. All I need is a Type C to VGA adapter and I am able to meet any media connections. I don't know why VGA is still popular as I thought HDMI is the standard connection. I guess there are still a lot of antiqueic equipment out there.This is a very nice quality product and the silver matches my silver MacBook Pro.

Many problems with old cinema display.

I saw other reviewers post that they had trouble using this with an Apple DisplayPort to VGA adapter so I didn’t expect that combo to work. However, I was pleasantly surprised to connect this to a model #A1307 adapter and it worked just great with the Thunderbolt 3/USB-C port on both a 2016 15” MacbookPro and a Lenovo Thinkpad T470s.

Failed on me, might've been a dud or a lemon. at least the one I recieved.

Does not work for my configuration. Will not work with passive connections. Connections must be active. I have a mini DisplayPort to HDMI/DVI/VGA adapter that worked great with my MacBook air, but will not work with this USB C adapter.

I purchased it for my MacBookPro 13" with touch ID. It does not work at all. Tried it on Apple Thuderbolt Display as well as my older Apple Cinema Display with Display Port (DP).

Broke after a couple of months. Item pictured now has a different brand label than the one I bought, but is listed under the same product number. Seems like a dodgy listing!
