Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides Powder Vanilla, 11.5oz

The amount of powder you get for the money is fair. Item arrived undamaged and properly sealed. I love the smell but I love vanilla so that's expected. Dissolves beautifully in water. The flavor is fine but it has that gross sweetener aftertaste which I hate. I now mix it in with my other powders and it doesn't bother me as much. When I got down to about 10 tablespoons left, I went ahead and reordered; however, I ordered the unflavored and am looking forward to trying it in a couple days. I will say this, when I purchased the vanilla, the packaging was plastic. The company has since changed their packaging and the containers are now more paper/cardboard like. I opened the new container and thought, "OMG, this is stupid." I would recommend that the company continue with the current design (free of all that plastic) but they need to change the lid so that it opens similar to a cereal box pull tab.

First I tried the “non flavored “. It has a taste. Don’t let the reviews fool you. I couldn’t tolerate the taste. I tried this vanilla and it is great. Dissolves well in hot fluids. I can’t do a full day dose at a time. A full daily dose is 4 tablespoons. I do 2 tablespoons with coffee in the morning and 2 tablespoons at night in tea. Gives both a nice vanilla flavor. After a couple of months, my nails are finally growing and less hair is falling out.

Easy to open, store and use collagen powder. I have been using this consistently for 3 months, and haven't noticed a difference yet. Though another friend of mine who has also been using it consistently says she noticed a better change in her hair. I’m hopeful it just takes more time and will continue. It is hard to mix in with just a cold liquid, but mixing with a smoothie, or hot liquid has been easier. I haven’t noticed any negative side effectives. After taking it in the morning i do notice i am not as hungry. The taste is fine enough, nothing to rave about, best mixed in with something else that you enjoy.

Pretty good except for a minimal bitterness-I assume from the sweetener, which disappears once mixed in with the other things that I use.

I really like the taste of this protein powder, especially mixed into coffee—it blends in easily without overpowering the flavor. I’ve also noticed an improvement in the condition of my hair and nails since using it. As someone who is premenopausal, I’ve been paying more attention to these changes, and I’m happy with the results so far. I’ll definitely keep using it!

Anyone who cares about avoiding sugar should never eat this product. It has maltodextrin in it, which spikes your blood sugar and insulin more than sugar does and is bad for your gut. The whole reason I started buying VP a few years ago was because their collagen did NOT have maltodextrin or other junk in it then, but they've been bought out by Nestle or one of those, so I should have known it was only a matter of time. When I discovered the previous brand of collagen I used had maltodextrin in it, I stopped using it and immediately started sleeping much, much better and lost weight. For some people, it might not make much difference, but for anyone who has any kind of blood sugar problems or insulin resistance or trouble sleeping or losing weight probably will see a benefit when they eliminate things like this from their diet. I was SO careful about carbs and sugars and I was furious when I realized I had been unknowingly consuming maltodextrin and it made a really big difference for me when I stopped using it. And now, the same thing just happened to me: a brand I trusted started slipping in bad ingredients. I guess I have to read the ingredient label on every product I buy, every single time I buy it. I noticed this cannister had a different texture than my other VP collagen protein, it's more grainy, so I looked at the ingredients and I could not believe my eyes. Any company that sells a product that people believe is healthy, like collagen, and adds ingredients like maltodextrin to it should immediately be distrusted and boycotted. They clearly know that most people are buying these products thinking they're beneficial, but they don't understand what ingredients like maltodextrin are. I will never buy anything from VP again. They use maltodextrin because it's a cheap anti-caking and texturing agent that tastes really sweet.

Review follow up: I was actually used to the flavor untill I tried brand’s vanilla and realized this one tastes like chemicals because of the Maltodextrin. I was so used to it I didn’t realize how weird it tasted! Original Review: Sometime around my 40th birthday I woke up with joint pain and looked in the mirror only to not really recognize myself and my skin- years of bad behavior (no spf, tanning beds, even former smoker and drinker!) had accumulated and manifested in dry skin, sun spots, and fine lines. When I say that I wasn’t loving what I was seeing is an understatement! I started taking care of my skin and making my health a serious priority. One supplement that is always at the top of the list is collagen peptides. I actually started with this one and tried a bunch more- but I always keep coming back to Vital Proteins. Even with the lousy packaging and hard to open top I just like the fake vanilla ice cream flavor. That’s really what it comes down to for me- I like it, so I make an effort to drink it everyday! That’s probably why I’m seeing and feeling the benefits which are basically no more painful joints, firmer, more supple skin, and a nice overall glow. It took months to finally see a difference, but I felt a difference within a few weeks. I still have a few fine lines and one or two sun spots that refuse to fade, but I definitely look better than I did at 40 (I’m almost 44 now). I think this flavor (Vanilla) works better for people who like a stevia flavored, almost fake tasting vanilla flavored ice cream. I use it in smoothies or add my own strawberry or mango drink packets to my daily drink. The powder WILL dissolve in cold drinks, but it may take a few minutes. It will dissolve even faster in warm or hot liquid. Just a final note on collagen- this does not have the Vitamin C or Hyaluronic Acid (HA) that most “skin” formulas have- because Vitamin C is necessary for absorption and HA is great for skin moisture. Vital Proteins makes a skin formula, as does other brands that contain both (Sparkle is one of them). I highly suggest you use this product in conjunction with both C and HA as both will enhance this product for skin and joint health!

I made the decision to purchase this collagen to ensure I am getting it in my diet. As I am getting older trying to ensure my skin stay healthy and youthful. It’s a good powder collagen and dissolves easily. It is a vanilla flavor so it pairs well with my no sugar mango juice or licorice tea by Yogi. It gives the juice a hint of vanilla taste but the tea has a spicy with a little sweet taste. Overall I enjoy using this Collagen Peptides.

No me gustó nada el sabor. No sabe a vainilla y está muy dulce pero con el sabor del edulcorante. Está muy artificial. No me lo puedo acabar pues me cuesta mucho ponerle a mis batidos y cambiarles a un sabor que no me gusta nada.
