This is wool roving and is great for needle felting. I'm not sure the bad reviewer knew the difference b/w roving and yarn and I'm even wondering if she wrote the review on the wrong seller and ordered from some other seller. I got two boxes and it is full and plentiful. There was no packing or extra stuff to make it weigh more, it was all wool. I got the blue and the kind of tan brown, great for animals and skin tones. It is rather fine and soft so it's not the perfect "core" wool for the base of a needle felting project, just takes more to get it to bind. But it's very high quality and soft and a really great price.

This is not wool roving. I started spinning it and it has a squeeky texture to it. Very unpleasant. I decided to test it further by boiling it. You can boil wool no problem. This tuned translucent and melted. It's plastic for the price of wool.

I bought three 1 lb. boxes of this roving. (white, black and brown) I recently got into needle felting and wanted a large quantity of a few colors to practice with and the price was right on these as others cost $30 - $50 for the same weight. I haven't gotten to the middle of the balls to see if they are full of shreds in the middle like another buyer said hers had, but as I am using it for needle felting and not knitting it wouldn't really be a problem even if there were. And as far as ripping? I haven't had a problem with that at all so far, if anything I've had a problem NOT getting it to rip when I'm trying to tear bits off for felting. I don't know anything about knitting and very little about felting, but for me personally, just buying it to needle felt, I haven't had any problem with it. It felts really well and tight and I am enjoying using it so far. Really the only complaint I have at all is that I would love to see a larger array of colors because I'd love to buy more of this roving in the 1 lb. size if they had more colors to choose from.

I should have known with the price tag honestly. Tried to spin with this and had no luck, doesn’t feel like it’s wool at all, pretty sure it’s some kind of synthetic material. I’m keeping it for loom weaving but definitely wouldn’t buy it again for spinning.

It’s great! Felts well and quick. Would buy again.
