Sauder Harvey Park Narrow Bookcase, Grand Walnut finish

Arrived exactly when promised. Packaging very secure, with excellent corner and edge bracing with double layers of very firm cardboard supports. Assembly instructions are lengthy (took me 4 hrs, working alone) but very clear. Drawers are deep and roomy. Shelves not adjustable, but sturdy and deep so that they hold a lot. Great product!

It looks fantastic, the diagonal lines add class and character to a space. Assembly is a one man job (though a friend would speed it up) and was straightforward besides one hitch; I had some confusion figuring out how to remove the extension slider from the rail using the lever, so I’m leaving this review to demonstrate how it’s done in case anyone else is having trouble. It feels sturdy but I can’t really speak on that until I’ve put some usage into it. If it lets me down I’ll update the review.

This fits perfectly next to my husbands side of the bed. Everything came packaged really well. It’s fairly heavy but I was able to move it by myself. The screws, bolts and tools are packaged nice and separated too. Everything was labeled and that made it easy to find the parts from the pictures. This does use cam locks in the building of it so make sure you know how to use those prior to assembly. It took me a little under two hours to put together by myself but it went together nicely. I wouldn’t recommend using power tools as this is not solid wood. It feels very sturdy and was fairly easy to put together. It holds quite a bit on the shelves and in the drawers too. If you’re used to putting together furniture this should be fairly simple. It would probably be easier with two people.

This bookshelf/file cabinet is very solid after assembling; I did use wood glue when applicable in addition to provided hardware. Much higher quality than other DIY furniture I’ve put together. Wood was in very good shape, pilot holes were properly drilled and instructions were in (actual) english and well written. The size is perfect for the a narrow space I had available. Standard file folders fit sideways (perpendicular to drawer front), legal fit lengthways, which is nice flexibility for a file cabinet of this size. Drawers are solid, slide well and close completely. I did cut off the bottom of the legs prior to assembling. I thought it would help stability and I didn’t think they would add anything to my situation. They cut perfectly, solid wood for that piece. I would rather not have one more place for dust to collect, and am happy I made this change. I wasn’t sure what I would get after reading other reviews, but this is exactly what I was looking for.

For laminate wood furniture, this piece is better than average! The assembly was more complicated than any ikea piece I’ve put together, but the directions are very thorough and clear. It seems to be well-constructed, sturdy, and the drawer glides are of superior quality. It was packaged well and arrived without any damage. The people in charge of user experience design for this company absolutely delighted me! I really appreciated how easy it was to remove the part-labeling stickers (quick and no residue). Also, the instruction booklet had some silly quips that made me laugh out loud along the way! Loved it. Looking forward to assembling 2 more pieces from this office set. Thanks Sauder!
