I bought a used 2016 mustang that someone seemed to have spent quite a bit of time on the freeway with before me, as there were a dozen chips in the bumper (very small, but noticeable since the car is white and the chips appear black). sanding pen made it extremely easy to scuff all the wounds and prep them nicely for painting, without damaging the surrounding areas and making the touch up more noticeable. Would definitely buy another one of these if I have to do more touch up work. Yes, the fibers are brittle and will break off easily..but that's the point. take your time and don't use excessive force and it works very nicely for even really small chips.

I am glad I discovered this item. It is basically a tight bundle of glass strands. The exposed end of this bundle cleans off corrosion like nothing else. I have used it to clean up electrical contacts, battery terminals, rusty dings on my car. The design allows it to reach into corners, grooves etc that sandpaper would miss. Quickly removes rust. 1: Use it outside. As you use it, little glass pieces come off. 2: Don't brush off the repair area with you hand, unless you enjoy prickly pear cactus thorns in your skin. 3: Protect your eyes. This is a must for any tool box.

This is a good product because its handy can get into small spaces and sands just fine. I am an artist and i needed to sand some acrylic off canvas in a detailed fashion. It worked great! so practical! CONS: This is made of some sort of tiny brushes so when you use this the tiny brushes fall off and get everywhere. If you get it on your skin it is like like getting a splinter stuck on you that annoys you forever. Lots of them depending how much you use it. Use this outdoors and wear gloves and glasses if your a beginner. Little splinters are annoying and if not careful they get everywhere. If you have kids becareful.

I've used this item for many years. Lasts quite long and has a spare refill inside the handle. This new one is a replacement. The bristles retract into the handle when not in use. The brush works well on electrical contacts, and also on preparation of surfaces to be painted (to get down to bare metal, etc.) Additional refills are available.

A while back my car was hit by something that caused the paint to be chipped down to metal in a few small spots. My procrastination prevented me from fixing it in a timely manner and rust ended up forming in the spots. I finally ordered some touch up paint but I knew that I needed to get rid of the rust before trying to paint over it. The spots were about the size of an pencil eraser (one of them a bit larger) and this worked like a charm on it. I also had some liquid rust remover but this worked WAY better than that to quickly remove the rust and was easier to clean up too. If you have the need to sand down a small location then I would highly recommend giving this a shot!

I just recently started a series of DIY projects in an effort to boost my self esteem and to save money on small construction jobs around the home, the KTI-Sanding Pen was a big surprise helper in a small compact style that's easy to hold and grips like a pen so it fits in my drawer or even in my pocket. Af first inspection and first attempt of use it was a bit intimidating to figure out the best way to handle the Sander and also it is best to use protective covering or gloves and be sure to read the instructions carefully to avoid injury near your fingers or eyes due to the tiny fiber glass brushes that makes the magic happen, other than these precautions I would definitely recommend it for small and quick projects. The cost is economical and the shipping was fast.

The pen does a good job but the size of the tip is gigantic for sanding rock chips on vehicle. Maybe if a pebble the size of a dime hits your car it is fine and leaves a chip the size of a pea then it could be used. I'm not sure why so many makers of touchup items for vehicles can't understand that most chips are much smaller than the products they release. I realize this is a universal tool but automotive was in the description so I'm just venting a little after dealing with this and touchup paint kits that have applicators that are way too big to actually fix the issue without it looking like a toddler did it. I am eventually going to see if I can somehow cut the tip down before use but then that means each time I have to push more out I have to trim it again and that will be a lot of times. It does a very good job at sanding the the clearcoat and paint very slowly and is easy to use, it's the size that is the problem. If it had a tip the size of on one of those round silver ball pin heads then it might be perfect. Like others have said, it is fiberglass and kicks off fiber dust so be wary of wind and wear nitrile gloves and eye protection or pay the annoying price.

This item wasn't exactly as I'd expected, but it worked well for removing debris from small paint chips on my car prior to adding a primer, basecoat and paint. The tip on the sanding pen is made of small, tightly compacted fibers which do sand small areas very well. The fibers can break, but I found very little of that when using this item. You have to twist the pen to deploy the bristles. I found that while the pen seemed rather flimsy in its build-quality, the pen worked as expected and it was easy to extend the bristles to varying lengths. I'd recommend this as a tool for those looking to repair vehicle paint chips, or hobbyists who need to sand in tight areas.

About the size of a regular pen this fiberglass tipped pen is good enough to scratch through the paint layer of a car to expose the bare metal and remove rust. Be aware it does consume the fiber glass bristles then it would not be sufficient to remove large areas or deep rust on rims for example
