it's overkill on a 1.6L NA mini cooper, but along with my muffler delete and what unnoticeable difference NGK coils and plugs make, it does even out the middle power band a lot. I built a full CAI out of sheet aluminum and 4" dryer duct (I'm surprised I got the custom airbox to fit in the stock airbox location AND had a good channel for the ducting). I won't see much extra power even if I tune it, but it does growl, gurgle and pop now, satisfying and absurd. It's a small engine, so it's still not crazy loud, so I can still drive it legally, but it is definitely louder. I was going to build a 2 piece scoop duct system around it, like AEM makes, even traded for an S hood with the scoop, but for now there's no point in doing that much extra work and adding more points of failure for zero gain unless I just do it for fun anyway.

I purchased front mount intake system online from one of the tuning companies I have used to buy a lot of parts for my car. The system was supposed to fit my 2021 BMW 540i x drive at a price point of about $500 with shipping. However, I am inclined to believe that it was more designed for the G20 chassis rather than the G30 chassis. So I returned it back to the company and then I came on Amazon and bought the parts to design my own. It was only about $200 and this intake filter is about two times the size of the one you get with a kit from a company. If you have a turbo vehicle and you like to hear the whistle and the gulp as air is being sucked in, then this is the filter for you. I have nothing to gain from the company. I am just telling you from a personal standpoint of a middle-aged guy that’s had a ton of cars, this is the best open air filter I’ve used.
