Fairy Houses: How to Create Whimsical Homes for Fairy Folk

This book lit my brain on fire with ideas! I’ve made a few fairy and doll houses before, but this book has inspired me to take it to another level. I’ve had to order birch bark on Etsy since white birch trees don’t grow in our forests. However I think this new material will be easier to work with and expand my creative options. Everything else is at hand in nature and I’m already creating! I totally recommend this book for the photos alone. But do note: the comprehensive fairy house building instructions are not for kids and I feel some artistic ability is needed to create them. I’m all gratitude to this incredible artist for sharing her techniques!

Not sure it helps you build faery houses but the pics are lovely and will give you inspiration for ideas of your own! I love the natural twigs she uses as well as the mosses and locations!

This is the book I have been looking for! It has such gorgeous examples of fairy houses that look like pieces of ART. You will be in AWE of the fairy houses the author Sally J. Smith has created. The book is filled with inspirational photos of the creations by the author, displayed out in nature and then if that isn't wonderful enough, there is a step-by-step DIY how to guide to building these amazing creations yourself! I have been wondering how to make my own and what materials to use. The author explains what will be needed to create display the houses indoors or outdoors, for more lasting creations or a temporary creation just for a photograph. She teaches about the materials used too. I am SO thrilled!

This is beautiful book full of amazing fairy houses. It does contain instructions to make some houses. They are not for beginners. This is a very advanced book. The frustrating thing , for me, is she uses Birch bark for every house. No substitution’s. Birch is not readily available in my neck of the woods. I admire her work and effort. It has amazing pictures but I don’t think it was worth the money.

This was a gift for my 11 yr old niece, who loves to craft things. She loved it and dove right in to plan her next project. Whimsical & fun

I saw this book at my moms house and had to get one for myself. So many great ideas.

I have been collecting "bits & pieces" of materials to build some Fairy Houses, but I wasn't feeling inspired to attempt putting them together until I found this book and the two calendars that are also available with photos of these wonderfully artistic little houses! Every time that I look at them it makes my heart beat faster. I am a craftsman and I am not interested in following someone else's instructions but I find it so helpful to see new methods, new ideas and just totally inspiring photographs to spur my own imagination. But, I so love the little castle that is pictured on the cover that I think I will have to make one very similar just to have it in my possession. I love this book and would love it even if I didn't want to make any houses!

Poured over the pages - the author has raised constructing fairy houses to an art form. She is receptive to nature, creating houses that reflect their natural location. She shares her knowledge, encouraging use to make our own fairy dwellings. I'm so glad I have a granddaughter who share my passion.

Libro muy bonito

Ein ganz bezauberndes Buch, viele tolle Ideen und Tips mit schönen Fotos und ausführlichen Anleitungen. Als Inspiration ist das Buch prima geeignet, man kann aber muss ja nicht alles exakt nachmachen und kann seiner Fantasie freien Lauf lassen. Ich habe auf jeden Fall große Lust bekommen, es auszuprobieren.

This book is awesome the sample pages don't do it any justice ! There is a flip through on You Tube as almost didn't buy.that would have been such a missed opportunity for me. If you are interested in miniature houses or even interesting full size garden buildings its full of inspiration and information.
