TayMac 1-Gang Weatherproof Single Outlet Cover, 5/8 in. Deep, Clear

I needed a cover for my porch outlet that is seldom used. This one fits the bill perfectly. Easy to mount, quality plastic cover that seems durable, and looks nice as well. Since I only use this outlet occasionally I did not need an In-Use (keeping something plugged in all the time) cover and preferred this one due to it being less bulky. Very affordable price as well as well.

I put three of these in over the weekend for outdoor work and security cameras. The install was quick and easy. It provides a good barrier to the elements and is easy to open up with gloves on. There is a small notch cut in the corner of the enclosure so you can loop a small lock through and secure the cover. It does not have space to run a cable through, even if you had a low-profile, right-angle plug. If that's what you need, look at the TayMac enclosures with more depth. The enclosure comes in two parts and you can assemble it based on whether you want it to swing open along the long or short edge. The hinges are open so you have to really push and wiggle the lid onto the base. I was nervous I would break it but I didn't. I used GFCI outlets and you can see the finished product in the pictures. There are adapters in the kit for other outlet types and sizes. I didn't use any of the extra parts.

Genuine Hubbell quality - Taymac line. Out of the box this is set up for a GFCI but the included parts allow use with 16 different applications. Clear cover - so you can see the GFCI monitor light is on (or off....) This is NOT an in-use cover - so if you intend to plug something in and keep things somewhat weatherproof look for a different cover. But it will keep your horizontal or vertical outlet dry when not in use. We have several versions of this cover - clear or solid color - installed at a campground and never have had a GFCI tripped by moisture. So it works.

It does not have a opening for wires to hang

I bought this as a replacement for an outside receptacle. It was easy to replace and fits perfectly over the receptacle. You have the option to open it rom the side or the top. Depends on which way you put on the clear cover. Appears to be solid made to last for a long time. It tightens up over the receptacle and is water resistant .

I really like this cover unlike others tried. Easy install and dual application allowing for opening left to right and bottom to top with vice-versa each. I set mine to open from bottom up in case you forget to close at least it will drop sheltering from any rain. Also, it has provisions to secure in the center or with 4-screws provided. Using the 4 screws you have to drill out the recess wit 1/8-inch drill bit but no biggie at all. I actually use all six the two in the center holding the switch allows a tighter connection and the 4-outer because they are closer to the out seals I feel they provide a better seal to the box.

This was exactly as described and will serve the purpose that I was hoping for. Even though it's an outdoor electrical box, I wanted it for my outdoor ceiling fan/light remote so that it would be protected and I always will know where it is. The remote fits perfectly in it and now has an all-weather storage compartment. Perfect!
