Little Japanese style knife
I call this a Samurai Sword for 'Mini Me', you know what I mean if you ever saw the 'Austin Powers' movies, LOL. What this is, is a very small knife (just over 3" blade) that is styled like a very small, short-bladed Samurai sword. The handle has the same shape and design, but in a kind of grippy rubbery compound instead of the silk braid. The blade is the same slightly curved shape with a Tanto- styled point as a sword, but shortened to just a bit over 3". It even has a small oval blade guard, again along the same style as the sword, just a bit smaller. Comes with a well-made sheath that seems to be Kydex or a similar material. They got the sheath 'just right' in that it holds the knife securely yet it is still easy enough to remove. It seems to be extremely well made for the price, and comes out of the box SHARP, as in sharp like a Buck or (almost) a Benchmade sharp (out of the box). Fit and finish are flawless, the guard is very sturdy looking and fitted very tightly. The handle is the perfect balance of being grippy without being too grippy, and the shape really locks it into my hand. This is a small knife, with a small handle, I can't get all 4 fingers around it, as it is too short, but it has a very solid 'feel' in the hand. I think this might be the best knife I ever bought for under $25, at least in initial quality and fit/finish. I like it so much I think I'll be getting another one or two. For the price, I don't see how it can be beat.

Nice knife
It’s a decent knife. I like the shape, that’s more than likely why anyone is going to purchase this knife. It’s tiny, the blade is shorter than the palm of my hand, this makes it a nice size to throw in a pocket and have on hand without feeling like you’re carrying a bunch of extra things. It didn’t come sharp but it sharpens nicely and holds an edge for a while, the geometry of the blade makes it awkward to sharper though. The sheath is very tight, it locks snugly in place. I would recommend this knife if you need something small for everyday use and like the aesthetic of the blade.

Cool, compact, fixed blade EDC
This must be the cutest practical tanto knife in the market. Not many fixed blades can fit so comfortably in the pocket and still offer all the utility of an everyday carry. That's mostly thanks to a 9.55cm blade that on a folding knife would need at least an 11cm handle. The handle on the Kyoto I is just 8.7cm so it's about 3cm shorter than an equivalent folding knife. The small handle is a tight fit for a full finger grip with my hands (10cm across the palm) but is perfect for a 3/4 grip with the side of my pinky up against the end of the handle still aiding in fine control. The faux tsukamaki (Japanese handle wrap) pattern on the handle is a nice touch that enhances grip security. The Kyoto I comes with a Secure-Ex sheath but without any loops or belt clips. I suppose that's fine given the price. Retention is good; I haven't been able to shake the knife out of the sheath. Given the Kyoto I's size it would work well as a neck knife or boot knife, but I think I'll add loops or a clip to the sheath for horizontal belt carry. The blade was very sharp but not quite razor sharp out of the box. I've used it for some light cutting and package opening tasks and don't currently see the need to further sharpen at the moment. Overall an interesting, useful, and fun knife that's a great value at the current price (bought at $22.29).

Good knife for a car, backpack pocket
Great small knife, very sharp. Good scabbard but no belt clip. Good price for what it is. 550 cord could probably mount it on MOLLE gear or something similar.

A great small tactical tanto, perfect for home use!
This is a very handy little knife! The appearance is tactical, with a black plastic sheath and rubberized grip, making it look very modern. The tanto style blade is short, easily controlled, and very sharp. Tanto style blades are great at material destruction, so breaking down packages, punching holes, etc. The blade is thick, with a sense of good durability, and it works well for opening boxes, then breaking those down for recycling. (I am doing a lot of home improvement, and this has sped the process of opening materials packing greatly!) I have not yet felt the need to sharpen the blade, so its edge retention is decent, despite eating a lot of cardboard. The small size, balanced feel, and easy of carry make this my favorite work and home use knife right now. Because the sheath holds the blade so the edge won’t instantly hit my thumb, I can actually snap the blade free similar to how you would for a katana, making for a very controlled draw. (Some other knives I own feel like the blade is out of control, sheaths so tight they’re hard to draw safely.) This, plus the sharpness, makes this a pretty safe knife to use.

Buy it now .
Cool knife , its my daily carry . If it came with a clip option it would be better . Incredibly sharp strait out the box . I did still sharpen with my new knife sharpener. Now its scary sharp . I worry about cutting the fabric of reality if I swing it with no target . Im 6'1 and have some really big hands and I think this is absolutely perfect size . I superglue a clip on it . I can still comfortably carry in pocket or clip on belt though.

Nice Sharp Knife
This is a real nice knife for the money. It is bigger than I thought it was going to be and is razor sharp. The handle is nice and grippy. I will have to grab a couple of these for gifts. I also bought a little c clip for it and have it on in a little angle. Perfect on the belt and easy to draw. Made in china.......but not a bad knife. It shaves right out of the box. I am ordering another one now.

Like folding knife sizes but not the folding part?
This is a good knife for you. I was very happy with the razor sharp edge (Looks at bald spot on hand). And as a blade that can be used as a day to day piece, I look forward to using this piece and am glad I purchased it.

Too sharp!!!!
Too sharp!!! Crate knife for carry on the neck. The handle is at the breast bone height, which is ideal. Easy to remove with either hand and pit so comfortable. The grip is strong and I have already cut myself twice using it. Excellent quality excellent size. Highly recommend.

Only when on sale
Average steel. Outdated, but way better than anything with "Solingen" stamped on it, of course. Take care when inserting or removing from the knife from the sheath since the edge rubs against it. Other than that a well made, well ground knife worth getting when on sale. The normal price here on Amazon is way above street price.
