For total body support, it is hard to find a chair that can be used at a dining table, with back support and arm support, all of which is padded. I like the black color, as it goes with the cherry finish better than the "oxblood" or whatever they call the reddish color. This has a better contrast, and goes with just about any decor. I have black drapes across the entire room, and this is just what I wanted. One of the cushions, however, is not the same width as the others, and there is a noticable gap betwee the cushion and the wood brace. Also, there was a small strip (about the size of a toothpick) where the cherry finish had been scraped off. God knows that this thing is really made of, but probably some sort of synthetic wood - I can't really say for sure. But, whatever it is, underneath this scrape, it looks whitish and powdery, and not like genuine wood. I used some dark scratch cover and now it has disappeared. If this is intended for a family with heavy use, you better keep some scratch cover handy all the time.
