I need this feature for quilting.** A: No, I haven't found anything that would override it. I also use it for quilting and would rather it stayed on. This iron pours out the steam, easily ironing through 8+ layers of fabric (e.g. a folded table cloth) so you spend 1/4 of the time ironing each piece. Pant legs? Lay them flat and iron through all 4 layers. We also use flannel paper-towel substitutes and I can do a whole stack at once before rolling them back onto the holder for reusing.
