Most chairs have the same type of wheels. I have a gamer chair similar to this and switched out the wheels easily with no tools - just pull the old ones out and push in the new. The rollerblade type wheels have been very smooth across the carpet.

How do you get the wheels off the chair?

A wide flat blade screwdriver or small prybar. Slip it between the ring on the old wheel spindle (see new wheel for reference) and the chair leg then pop it straight up. Press the new wheel into the hole till you feel the ring go into the groove or hear it click.

Are the wheels soft or hard?

They feel like roller blades wheels, they're hard enough to roll over carpet but soft enough not to scratch hard surface
