My soil is the issue, not this too. My soil has a LOT of large rocks which makes this tool more challenging to use, but it is still the best way to bury low voltage lines and small drip irrigation lines I have found. In addition to the rocks, my soil is heavy clay, so it does not work well if the soil is too wet or too dry. But you use it a couple days after a good rain, magic... if you can miss the rocks. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great for burying 12V lighting wire. *by on Reviewed in the United States February 23, 2021* I was able to bury 12V outdoor lighting wire fairly deep by first using a power edger to cut about 2" into the turf. Then I would use this trencher as follows: (a) put into channel; (b) push forward; and (c) pull backward. This would actually "lift" up the turf on the far side of the channel and make placing the wire very easy. I didn't have any roots and the ground was fairly wet which made it even easier. Very well made and an incredibly strong spade...no flex at all. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great as long as the soil is not heavily compacted *by on Reviewed in the United States August 19, 2017* Very well made. This thing is going to last my lifetime as well as my kids lifetime. Works great as long as the soil is not heavily compacted. In more compacted soil, it takes a lot of work to get to the needed depth. I ran low voltage wire (Cat6) about 200 yards with this thing. It was a good workout for sure. If you are just running a couple of dozen feet or so, you should not have any issues. I do recommend the "T" handle version unless you have very loose soil, as you're going to need to lean on it if the soil is compacted. ## Frequently Bought Together - Kenyon 49045 All-Steel Landscape Lighting Trencher/Edger, 45" Steel"T" Handle - Jonard Tools M-216C/EX, Impact Resistant Hex Can Wrench with 7/16" and 3/8" Hex Sockets and Ergonomic Handle, 1" Diameter , 7" Length, Outer - MargaWalt Brands QuickTrench Package Irrigation PRO in Box --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.sn/products/39401310-kenyon-s550-irrigation-all-steel-landscape-lighting-trencher-edger-45](https://www.desertcart.sn/products/39401310-kenyon-s550-irrigation-all-steel-landscape-lighting-trencher-edger-45) --- *Product available on Desertcart Senegal* *Store origin: SN* *Last updated: 2026-10-22*
